The world needs more people like you. Not just the herbs and general knowledge of plants and their uses but the calm excitement of something you're passionate about. The willingness to let yourself try something new knowing it might not turn out the way you expect it. Sharing that experience with the world and encouraging people to try and learn from their mistakes. While also educating them on helpful alternatives to synthetic medicines. I bet you're a wonderful person to be around. Thank you for making these and sharing them to everyone. I hope people can see the beauty in world like you do. ☺️

Something I found that helps me to "turn my mind off" is to create stories. Sometimes its an extension of a book I am reading, esp if I don't like the ending I'll create my own, but it helps me to focus on one thing and wind down my mind. Great post, thank you. 🙏

190 proof is as pure as alcohol gets. it has to have some water in it by nature so 190 proof converted to percentage values means it is 95% pure, further down the scale, 80 proof is only 40% pure by means of an added 55% of water this is regularly done between distilling/ageing and bottling for the average whiskey.. it is the charring inside of the oak barrels that gives whisky its signature brown color during the ageing process. the clear grain alcohol you are using has had no such ageing so it is actually what is commonly referred to as moonshine by bootleggers. blessed be!

Some herbs extract better in alcohol, and some are better in water. Temperature also makes a difference with some herbs. Depending on the method, you don't get exactly the same extracted constituents, or strengths of them.

@acovenoftwo Something my family learned on our health journey is that the body's well-being is directly connected to the mind's well-being (It's kinda obvious when you think about it). This means that a poor diet can harm your mind too, leading to symptoms like Depression & Anxiety. So to get to the point, another alternative solution I'd suggest would be to try and improve your diets. The simplest and safest way I know to do that is to cut as many processed foods as possible and replace them with Unprocessed Meats & Eggs, Unprocessed Vegetables, and Unprocessed Fruits, as well as what ever you can make at home with those base foods, such as Soup.

Can I use food grade glycerin instead of alcohol for these herbs 🌿
@OldManFerdiad8 ай бұрын
In general yes, but you'll always want to check individual herbs for any special conditions. In general, alcohol extracts more active components from the herb so you'll get a slightly less 'strong' extraction with glycerine. Also alcohol has a much longer shelf life, so if using glycerine you might want to make smaller batches so they don't spoil. Again, you'll want to check for your ingredients. Off the top of my head I'd keep a pure alcohol tincture for 1-2 years, a water and alcohol tincture for up to 1 year. I think glycerine should be about 20-25% of that so maybe 2-3 months once finished? Hope this helps.

Where do you source your ingredients? I never where to get trusted herbs online.
@Kira_Martel7 ай бұрын
Mountain Rose Herbs is commonly recommended. I've had mostly good luck with them, though they are one of the bigger players in the scene these days so with increased volume comes the occasional quality issues. I appreciate their work toward sustainability, for example once they sell out of something, it's often not available until the next growing season to prevent overharvest. If you have farmers markets near you, check around for herb growers or folks who practice regenerative wildcrafting. That can be a great way to source herbs that are fresh and local to you, making your medicine more potent.

Thank you. I have hypo thyroid and it seems like a lot of herbs that would help my anxiety attacks and panic, can’t be taken because of the thyroid. I can’t find out what the reason is, if it’s any amount that is forbidden or is a little bit ok, what it will do that harms thyroid and how serious it is. I just have so many questions that I can’t find. A few are, lemon balm, purple cone flower and horseradish. I have used horseradish so many times. I found out about a year ago that it blocks the thyroid hormone. I asked my endocrinologist if that is true and asked about many others. She has no idea about any herbs. They didn’t teach them in school. Are there any resources that you trust, that would help explain more about the why’s and the risks etc
@gardenstatesowandsew7 ай бұрын
@@Eve.N1782 Thank you so much. I’m learning how to do that.
@Kira_Martel7 ай бұрын
Herbalists Matthew Wood and Thomas Easley both have online courses about herbs and the thyroid. Depending on the herb, it seems to be a matter of opinion or school of thought. Some of my herbal teachers don't feel lemon balm, for example, will do much in the amounts people would use in a tea, etc. while I have had other teachers be more conservative and recommend not using it if your thyroid hormone production is very low. I can't remember which hormones it acts on, I believe it's TSH but it could be T3 or T4. It basically acts as a depressant, so if your thyroid is already depressed, it doesn't need any more help. That's how a lot of these herbs achieve their calming effect, since a slight down-regulation in thyroid activity can be calming or sedative. But if the root cause of your anxiety isn't related to an up-regulated or overactive thyroid, these herbs won't work longterm, but only as a temporary first aid. It's important to figure out the root cause in order to treat it at the source, otherwise you're just doing symptom suppression, which can be useful in the short-term, but needs to be followed up with something deeper.
