Kernel level anti cheat isnt much of an issue for most people as long as it shuts down whenever youre not playing the game (looking at you, riot games)

To clarify : EAC is in kernel mode, that means it is "system side" and not user mode. With that it has way more control on memory etc. So cheat devs will have to bypass it with more sofisticated techniques. It mainly depends on how the devs implemented the solution arround their game. There is always bypasses shared on the web. However, if you do research you can see that people interrested in learning offensive cybersecurity are litteraly using Sea of thieves as a dev platform for beginners ! (yes the game is not protected at all). We maybe will see disapear a lot of those free cheats widespread. Also, because client side cheats were absolutely undetactable, almos 1/4 (or more...) of the player base is using what they call "soft cheats" like ESP with aiming markers for years (even PVE players to avoid being attacked). Maybe we will see an hilarious amount of bans because these people will not be able to completely clean their system before the release... A real question is what about the ban system ? Active cheaters are burning accounts either using spoofers and keep playing the game with ease (mostly in hourglass mode..) Hope we will be able to jump back in hourglass with fairplay people

​@@114callum6 If I am correct you have at least to edit game files or write in memory to exceed the intended 90°. So depending on how the devs are implementing EAC arround their binary you might be banned in the near future. So 120 FOV is basically a cheat. As a lot of gamers I always play at least with 100 FOV on all games... I agree with the fact that Rare should raise this limit. Also I don't work for Rare, all I said is based on my little knowledge and I could be wrong.

I'm a little concerned that the "9 out of 10" guy (so-called because he said hit reg is so much better, you'll hit 9 out of 10 shots. When tested, it was actually worse. A crewmate of mine had to hit a chicken with a sword 8 times before it died) is the one announcing it.

The audacity for them to troll us about anti-cheat. They promised it 2 seasons ago and the cheats are getting ridiculous. You made a great point about Fortnite. Fortnite is also way bigger and objectively more competitive, with far more incentive for players to cheat, yet it has a fraction of the cheating problem that SoT does. I’m with you, on not being a dev and not understanding the technical side of that problem, but for a developer to know that the cheating is this egregious, then to promise a fix, fall through on their promise, then turn around and throw it back in the community’s face, is extremely passive aggressive and childish. It doesn’t rub me as a sense of humor, at all. They failed, but they’re throwing shade at us about it.

That's the Rare way. Joke about their mistakes and pretend like everyone is having fun. Forever stating that they are fixing something and yet it's never done until suddenly Sony comes into play. "We're working on hit-reg" 3 years later here we still are but now we have bucket reg, food reg and many more regs! Anticheat just made me sad. I have never supported Epic products. But since SoT was made on Unreal Engine shouldn't have EAC been in from day one? If I was an investor, I would have made some hard choices by now....

They do exude this kind of faux upbeat, playful demeanor, peppered with snide undertones (heavily peppered in their discord), when addressing the community, with regard to the major issues this game’s been plagued with for years, now. They also band together with this hive-mind, gaslight approach, where the flying monkeys descend on whoever is making unwanted noise about how broken the game is, in comment sections, Reddit posts and especially on their discord(s). I’ve never experienced such a seemingly unanimously narcissistic approach to PR from a gaming company. What makes it so odd, is that they are quite actively connected to their community’s feedback, but their flippant behavior and decisions scream incompetence, as well as apathy (perhaps even resentment) toward the most devout demographic in their player base, the PvPers. It’s our fault for noticing and calling it out. It’s also our fault for continuing to play the game beyond making pirate legend lol.

Apex is currently avaliable to play on linux, however, fortnite is not. It is much easier to circumvent EAC on linux than it is windows which is probably why you cannot remember seeing a cheater on fortnite (no linux support). EAC + linux support = support for more platforms but potential ways of cheating EAC windows only = better security but limiting the game to windows only

I love the group that think sliders, skins, and esp aren't hacks just quality of life. It helps everyone when the object you wanna shoot is gigantic in the middle of your screen and everything else is small. It helps anyone to see through sails or get whatever cosmetic you want without effort. It would help anyone to know where the enemy running on your ship is not just TDMers aiming corners. Love the I"I download this but turn off that" logic

i just want to throw out there that kernel level anticheats are not designed for the sake of players, nor are they realy that secure. Also there is the potential that a clever hacker could turn a kernel level anticheat into kernel level access of users computers. AKA, if a hacker for some reason decided he wanted to, he could use sea of thieves to access your computer at a level that even you yourself cannot, theyd have full access and control of your pc. On top of this, easyanticheat does not and is not inclined to work on user security, only game security, so the possibility of a hacker being able to accomplish this is actually pretty fuckin high. ALSO easyanticheat does not stop cheaters, there are cheaters in every game that has easyanticheat, and in some of those games the cheating is prolific just keep that in mind before you get all excited that .001% of cheaters will be stopped by this (PS: im not sayin this to be negative, im just telling you what is true, take it or leave it. I love sot and i hope a solution can be found but i also fully accept that cheating in games will never ever go away)

@@MrShalabii there are many companies, and anticheat developers, who would strongly disagree with you. See piratesoftware and his video talking about his experience as an anticheat developer and his perspective on kernel anticheats & how unecessary they are, as he himself banned hundreds of thousands of cheaters without any kernel anticheats.

@@MrShalabii i think sea of thieves has bigger issues than adding EAC, especially when EAC has not ever stopped a game from having a big cheating scene, just look at the finals for example, which is a game that shares a problem with SOT which is that if you get banned on SOT and you own the game on steam, there are ways to bypass having to buy a new account (as far as im aware) meaning anyone who cheats, isnt actually worried about getting banned, because they can simply switch xbox accounts, change a registry ID, and keep on cheating someone who has a great take on this is "Pirate Software" an ex security dev for blizzard who now develops his own games, and has a few videos where he explains how EAC and all kernel anticheats are completely unecessary and he personally has banned hundreds of thousands of cheaters without any kernel level anticheats

Apparently the reason for that is because Apex is available on Linux, which doesn’t work as well with EAC. Fortnite however, doesn’t have Linux support so there are far less cheaters. I saw that in another comment, I don’t play either Apex or Fortnite but Linux is weird so it seems to make sense. All that being said, SOT should be on the Fortnite side of that example as Linux isn’t supported👍
