2:48 The Asurans were not an offshoot of the 'Milky Way' replicators; they were a separate invention of the Ancients'.
@GateWorldDotNet2 жыл бұрын
That's right -- "offshoot" implies they came later, so it wasn't the best choice of words on my part. I would love to see a future show trace the connection (if there is any) between the Ancients creating human-form Replicators in Pegasus and the evolution of human-form Replicators in the Milky Way. First and the others ostensibly patterned themselves off of Reese, recognizing her as their original creator. So who created Reese? Was her "father" a Lantean who evacuated Atlantis 10,000 years ago? Did Reese have latent programming pertaining to nanite-based, human-form Replicators?

Not including any books written for the expanded Stargate universe… Could we do a video on the status of various groups/races as of the end of each tv series? As in… What was the last known status of the Lucian Alliance, the Genii, the travelers, the Goa’uld, the replicators,… Etc. And then you could also speculate as to latter developments.

If I were a bc 304 I would have implemented a high power version of the ARG. reason number one thanks to dakara we see that the weapon can be modified to work on organics this means that the wraith who use organic ships would crumble before such a weapon. Reason two it would have made wiping out the asurans so much easier just blast them from orbit and loot the advanced technology for personal use. Third and final reason as the weapon on dakara was originally a teraforming device it can still be used in that function imagine how useful that can be.

I honestly hated the change that made the replicators to basically techno wizards that could do just about anything. This is especially annoying since the android that the human shaped one is based on never seemed to show signs of being able to do half the things that they just suddenly where capable of doing.

@@rebmcr So they never showed any ability to be able to learn or grow only copy and incorporate materials. I also don't understand the back story on how they found the first human replicator since the last they showed she was taken out on earth before she left how they had a chance to find her seems pretty much hand waved at least as far as I remember since I don't recall them explaining it. The replicators didn't seem to even really use advanced tech until the humanoid replicator. They would infect a ship eat it to produce more infect another ship/ base Etc. The replicators would just basically incorporate the materials they didn't really build much except other replicators.

@Joseph Kasmarcik you did watch the episode where the Asgard trap the Replicators in the time dilation field right? Earth gave the Android to the Asgard for study and the Asgard used the body and a recall function to draw them all in. Also yes the Replicators have been shown to adapt and enhance technology several times. Best example is turning a standard Ha'tak that was thrown to a distant galaxy into a ship capable of getting back to the Milkyway in less than a day when before it would have taken hundreds to thousands of years to make the trip. Plus Thor even says that Replicator controlled ships are enhanced and stronger than standard versions which is why the war is such a problem.

Again and again by having such a source of information which theoretically was was more up to date than what they found in Atlantis lately, then they don't bother to use the source, this show had so many interesting events that could change the series into something more fun than any other franchise ever made in television history.🎉

One more catch that I did not understood, when SG1 got all the knowledge from Asgard they got matter materialiser which they could use do to many things, especially when it comes to spare parts for the repairs which apparently was a thing during combat in the series.

But... the Asurans were not an off-shoot of the Replicators, they were completely unrelated. The Replicators in the Milky Way and Orilla were made by Reese, while the Asurans were an enhanced evolution of the nanobots the Ancients created to fight the Wraith. They aren't related at all other than being nanite-based beings.
@GateWorldDotNet3 жыл бұрын
They are identified as "Replicators," though you're right that the writers never explicitly connected the dots. Common wisdom would suggest that Reese's "father" was an Ancient scientist, who returned to the Milky Way in the evacuation of Lantea and eventually restarted work on the Replicator project.
@nihilityjoey2 жыл бұрын
Why is this so hard to understand. The technology is just the same, different execution. The replicator nano machines could assimilate and replicate living tissue if needed (to a point) Reece was created using the same kieron based nano technology as the pegasus replicators. The design and function was different. That's not a hard thing to grasp.

@GateWorldDotNet3 жыл бұрын
If you mean the Lanteans in the Pegasus Galaxy, its possible it didn't exist until after they returned to the Milky Way 10,000 years ago. It stands to reason, since they apparently bombarded the Replicator planet with conventional weapons fire. Although the Dakara weapon has been around a lot longer than 10,000 years ...

So the Asgard in Stargate were incapable of thinking the same way as lesser advanced species like humans, and would never think of making guns that fire metal projectiles. Although bullets may blast Replicators apart, they just reassemble. I am guessing that such a race as Asgards would so far surpass human thinking that that example would be pointless. It's like saying we can't think like insects, so they must have some devastating advantage against us other than sheer numbers in a war.
@nihilityjoey2 жыл бұрын
They were faced with a technology that was ahead of them, so too them the solution was an advanced one. And while bullets may have been able to take out replicator forms. Its took ANCIENT technology to wipe them out. Which means the answer was advanced technology. It was just ahead of the asgard.

@aziris72573 жыл бұрын
I wouldn't say shit, but I admit, I hated the series. It tried too much to copy Battlestar Galactica's success that it alienated its own fans by copying Battlestar Galactica. SGU is a huge departure from SG1 and Atlantis, creating a claustrophobic feel instead adopting the joy for adventure that made SG1 so great. Eventually fans decided to reset their expectations and treat SGU as a separate sci-fi, but the damage was already done. For me at least, watching SGU was a chore. I didn't enjoy watching it at all. It's different from SG1 and Atlantis, where I looked forward to what new adventures they'd have in every episode. By the middle of the second season, I was like, "Alright, I've watched enough. Time to find something else to watch."
