I can’t lie I feel I’m almost there. I don’t get mad or upset anymore, I find logical ways to move on from it or deal with it. A feeling of inner peace and not letting things you can’t control bring you down, rather learn from them and taking whatever positives you can to make you better. Keep at it guys we’ll be our best version of ourselves one day

Some health issues took away my old life and the last few years have been hard. I am a little better, but may have gotten into the habit of being ill and not able to do things. I have been afraid to move forward because it means leaving everyone & everything I know. Thank you for your advice. I will start taking the steps needed to begin my new life.

@angiebaby9981 Would it be possible to have a compromise solution so you can decide? Would you be able to rent out your home, and rent another place for yourself to see how you like living there? Your tenant's rent payment may cover some of your living expenses. I did this when I fell ill and had to move away from my home to live with family members because I could not care for myself. I hired a good property management company to oversee the needs of the rental, so I did not need to worry about having to deal with tenants. The property management company did this. This worked for me for many years, until I finally sold my old home last year, when I was ready to let it go. There may also be other solutions to ease you into your future. All the best to you.

Thank you for sharing that. I never thought someone could "[get] into the habit of being ill". In the same way I "have gotten into the habit of being [alone]" ... for the same reasons. Socially reclusive. I will start to take steps to change that.

This video is very timely. Recently, I sometimes felt anxious about the future. Thank you for the reminder not to worry about it too much as it is beyond my control. Thank you for reminding me to enjoy the "moment". Focus on what's present and on what I can do. Thinking negatively about the future takes away my peace and my happiness.

Hey I guess Im a stoic 😅. Coz its been some time now I've stopped seeking validation from my dad who always mocks me in a strange way. Still treats me like im under 18 & not ready for the world. I listen to my mom she is the man. I've set targets & took risks like a madman. When I look 3/4 years back it feels a strange satisfaction. I'm here because I need constant motivation. Because its not enough I listen once & go execute straight away. Its a constant process where I'm learning, failing, building, making mistakes & still hungry for more. Thanks man...

I'm glad I've been listening to stoicism teachings a lot recently. Today I got into an argument with my boss over something that he told me "was handled" while I was suggesting ways to help. Instead of yelling back at him when he got pissed at me I told him I told him I was only supplying information, then I left the conversation completely. I wanted to go back and threaten him about how he was acting, but took the time to think beforehand and realized that it is more beneficial to not escalate things. Instead I decided to work on what I had suggested which ended up helping other people and the boss saw that it had helped. There was no apology from him, but I know that he saw he was wrong in how he handled things. It's a small matter, but still a good win to have that I achieved today.

A few months back I lost everything because of lies and deception. I an still trying to figure out what to do with my life. I have to start all over again. Everything I had worked for has been destroyed. The challenge ahead is now litigation. Seeking revenge never entered my mind. As a Christian I prayed for those people who have done me wrong, I wish them no ill. Stoicism has deep roots in Christ. This is why I use both to help me through life. I have seen the ugly side of humans more than the good side. I appreciate where I am now, starting over again with what I can control.

I agree with not being overly dependent on external validation, but that needs to be unpacked a bit. As social creatures we do need a certain amount of external validation. There are unspoken social rules that one has to master before you can sever most of your dependence on external validation-and thats simply because you become confident in your abilities and that you wont let criticism or lack of positive feedback have a negative impact on you.

I agree with the rumination for people who tend to be very negative in their thoughts. However, as an I n t j I have to say that I n t j's who ruminate tend to find patterns and solutions. I also think that many people do not think about the patterns in their history to avoid repeating itself throughout their future. People should definitely be questioning automatic negative thoughts and whether they are fact opinion or assumptions. However, if there's never any conclusion drawn about how they could have prevented that problem, they can not improve their future.
