BAOR (British Army Of/On the Rhine) and operation Blue Peacock, a concept thought up by RARDE (Royal Armament Research and Development Establishment), of a line of animal names, Blue Bunny, Brown Bunny. The concept was to set a number of nuclear landmines in the event that Russia (USSR at the time) managed to successfully invade, now the problem was it gets cold in Germany in the winter and the landmines would not operate properly in the cold. Thus, you put chickens in the landmines with enough food for about a week their bodies producing enough heat to keep things running, after a week you have radioactive chicken wings and the enemy goes bye-bye, along with any civilian population left behind.

The set cats on fire idea worked best when the cat was put in a catapult and flung over the walls into the city just after their tail was lit. Whether it was more effective to simply catapult over some pots filled with oil and a lit rag, like a giant Molotov cocktail, if you will, would have to be a subjective opinion. Some people really hate cats, and pottery was way more expensive than a cat.

During medieval times they've used pigs and fire together to breach castles. They would dig under a castle and light pigs on fire underneath the castle because pig fat burns incredibly hot which would weaken the integrity of the castle subsequently collapsing it. Humans have probably been using fire plus animals to unalive eachother since cavemen created fire.

This is what I found A rat's ass is a variation on the tinker's curse, first recorded in the Scottish Gallovidian Encyclopedia (1824): “She did not give a tinker's curse/ What she might do or say.” Leon Uris is the first on record with rat's ass in the novel Battle Cry (1953), based on his experiences as a soldier in Europe during WWII.
