i learned from an old ranger a good way of concealing fresh breaks on foliage such as branches and such, take some of the dirt from an inconspicuous location, use some water or spit and make a paste out of a small amount of the dirt and rub it on the break and work it into the cracks, it will give a more weathered appearance and make the break look much older, great video, and pretty cool tips stay safe out there

Good evening Clarice, Your video really opened my eyes on a few topics. You mentioned poachers as a threat. Here in the US we don't really have that threat but we do have others. Its sad to think there really isn't a safe place in the world now days. Depending on where a person lives we must be aware of the threats we face and how to do our best to avoid them. What you drag behind your vehicle to disturb or change your tire tracks would depend on the type of terrain your driving on (sand Vs pine needles or rocks) and (as you show in the video) would need to be wide enough (as opposed to having something behind each tire) not for just the rear tires but extend out to cover the front tire path to cover turns and shifts the vehicle would make on different terrain. I have to say that around the 15 minute mark (and again at 15:55) I had a very unsettling feeling when I noticed a large person behind your vehicle. I noticed they came from behind your vehicle and moved to your left but instead of reappearing on your left they just stopped, you even looked behind after you finished talking and cut to a new scene in the video. They just disappeared. Obviously because we are seeing this video you are okay, but it still was unsettling that they seemed to be hiding from camera. I have to figure they are part of your crew since I imagine when you are making a video you have others with you. But this goes to show we must be aware of what is going on around us. In the case where we are evading we must be hyper vigilant about what is happening around us. I felt better when at the end of the video the dog came up to you. Which brings up a question. How are you able to determine domestic dog tracks over other tracks? Anyway, thank you for another very thought provoking video. Take care of yourself.

Hi Robert! You're right about tailoring your counter-tracking methods to the terrain. We should always be aware of the presences in the bush around us and never assume that no one else is around. We may just not have seen them yet. I've learnt a lot of tarcking and identification of tracks both through online means and through experimenting with it myself. There are some great Facebook groups on tracking that teach you a lot. C

Good information. Your vehicle is your portable cache if you have to leave it to go check something out on foot. It’s a good idea to use the methods you have shown to conceal the vehicle while you’re gone. Out of site… out of mind.

By which time the drones have locked onto the heat of your vehicle engine. Interesting tactic, but with significant risk of losing bits of camo net, which can give a whole lot away in and of itself…

Uh the sunglasses, belt, watch, earrings, contrasting clothing, and most likely be able to smell you. Let alone the super shiny truck that's also contrasting to back drop. Dragging something is just as easy to track as vehicle tracks, guess this stuff could work against a pencil pusher or ladle swinger.
@chrisgriffith92522 ай бұрын
Brushing tracks away with a stick.... Saw that in a 1950 Western😂😂😂😂😂 Dragging something behind the vehicle is really going to tell Whomever is tracking you where you are going
@LiveReady2 ай бұрын
Rather use a branch with some leaves on than a stick, as I did. When you brush out tracks with something soft like fabric it weathers and ages faster making it harder to track you. One should never assume that you can eliminate all spoor, but you can delay the tracking party by reducing your sign and confusing the trackers.
@wjspade2 ай бұрын
@@LiveReady It seems that most people missed that this method isn’t just about removing all sign of your passage. It’s more about limiting what intel a tracker can glean from the sign that you do leave. I’ve used this same method and have found that it’s best, when possible, to make the camo netting or tarp wider than the vehicle. In the past, I’ve lashed branches to my rear bumper so that what I was dragging was wide enough to wipe out tire marks on all but the sharpest of turns. It’ll definitely trick a layman into thinking that you’ve just vanished, but a good tracker will figure it out. (Unless the weather is on your side.)

Not quite, if you know what to look for as a tracker you will eliminate sign. That's the point here, getting good at anti-tracking is a skills just like tracking is... 😉
@Miclantechupi2 ай бұрын
What rot. If you drag that camo net you may not eliminate the track, but you mess up all the fine detail and introduce significant doubt as to how old the tracks are .
