It is honestly every single republican in the country. You can point fingers at individuals, but the right wing- at it's fundamental core- is the problem. Trump is a president, they last at most 8 years (unless he gets his way). Congress (essentially, given the number of geriatrics in it) is for life. All the problems in the country are at their feet, not the president. The petulant republican party of today isn't anything new. They were stone walling nearly EVERY SINGLE bipartisan or democrat legislation for decades before the likes of Boebert, Gaetz, Santos, and MTG ever even considered running for office. They were just quiet about it. McConnell has been stacking the supreme court since the day he entered office back in the 60s. Steve Shives is 100% correct. They thank me for my service, but they have gleefully voted against everything I stand for and, while they're at it, gutted support services that were part of the fucking package when I signed up. Even when I don't know their political inclinations, "Thank you for your service," feels like a virtue signal. And, when it isn't, it feels like misplaced hero worship in a country where service members are given too much clout, when most of these served because they were brainwashed through a childhood of propaganda or desperate due to poverty. It's great to hear this. We had a similar thing in the UK with Boris Johnson and Nigel Farage. People acted like they were some unique new brand of politician, but they were actually just a slightly more egregious, slightly more blatant version of the majority of right-wing politicians - basically no different from the average Tory plus a couple of whiskeys. What's very apparent from following US politics is that Trump has given many Republicans licence to be even worse than they were before. And that shouldn't be surprising. The reason people admire men like Donald Trump and Boris Johnson isn't because they think they're good people; it's because they envy and admire the kind of person who has so little shame that they can act like utter garbage and evade any meaningful consequence. It seems like there's a vile shitty part of really every conservative that secretly yearns to do something despicable and get away with it because they're the right kind of person. And you can see that in men like James Comer and Matt Gaetz, and in women like Marjorie Taylor Greene and Lauren Boebert. They're not politicians - they're wannabe celebrities, just like Trump. But yes, while Trump may have tipped things a little further, the Republican Party has been a morally destitute open sewer for pretty much as long as I've been alive. No one has any business pretending to be surprised now.

I'm just going to break it down in a series of replies.. And just an argument for when you meet the so-called leftist who cares about Palestinian lives or the environment or women's rights or any of the leftist "talking points". (and I'm deliberately saying it like that because I don't believe them when they claim that excuse.) They'll babble about how they need more political parties. They'll babble about say .. Biden just authorized military weapons transfer. Biden didn't do enough for X. How, by voicing their discontent, they're telling the DNC to listen to them more. Their bs on Bernie's so -called popularity and how Bide was just another racist senator who needs to be punished for things he did when he was younger or whatever. see next comment
@jenniferhunter40749 ай бұрын
There's this idea that more parties means better representation. There's problems with this and any intelligent person will be able to see the loopholes very quickly. That's why I hate leftists who use this argument. 1. If you have a coalition government that is comprised of 6 parties, all of which have precisely the same number of delegates at the same power level, will that really change anything. Let's pick environmentalism. 5 conservative parties and 1 non-conservative parties. Probability = zero 4 conservative and 2 non-... Probability = zero 3 conservative ad 3 non... Probability = zero. (you're probably surprised. But look at it this way. 3 conservatives + 1 non conservative the fence non-conservatives who are dependent on oil and gas industries) It's only when we have 4 or preferably FIVE non-conservative parties that suddenly, the answer starts moving left and pro-environmental. So have I successfully demolished the "multiple parties" bs. It's basic logic.. It really does reduce to conservative or non-conservative. Those Tea Party members voted with Republicans. In fact, they were Republicans. And Manchin.. he votes Democrat. Sure. He's more conservative but take a hard look at the votes and suddenly, you like that guy. (We lose W. Virginia senate seats when Manchin leaves. His name is very popular. That means, if we don't pick up enough seats, and if Sinema (gets re-elected) and doesn't caucus with the Democrats, we lose the Senate. We really should be limiting the power of the Senate part of the legislative branch because it has too much influence. look at the European Union and that's where we need to get to because states need sovereignty so that Trump and other republicans don't screw blue states up.) And when we put in social dynamics, it's more helpful to have similar goals and values. Somebody who already thinks black people are people is going to understand that women are also people or something like that. That person has already started walking down a certain path. it doesn't take too much force to tweak the perspective if done well.
@jenniferhunter40749 ай бұрын
Biden just authorized military weapons. Now, this gets geopolitically very very messy. At this point, throw ethics and ideals out the window because it's about power and hegemony and resource access and control. They'll window dress with "Oh.. look at China with the Uighurs." Notice that Walmart still sells goods made in China. How fascinating the amount of actual action to hit China hard.. That's just words and I get it. It's impossible to unwind this relationship. You buy x good and part of it probably was made or sourced in China or some other place that has some human rights issues. It's not that we should just give up but we must be smart about how to resolve the situation. That's what Obama was trying to do with TPP trade agreements that would effectively isolate China and thus force economic pressure onto China. Naturally.. Trump cancelled that. So going back to Israel. America has always had a protective role with Israel. It's changing now. But let's not forget that Israel has nukes. Let's not forget that Israel, love it or hate it, is relatively stable in that region and doesn't hate the US. It's because of that long standing relationship that we can say some hard truths to the Israelis that would never be listened to if it came from say .. Iran. So why are we doing it? Some of it is financial. We have an industrial military complex. But Israel will destroy Palestine. So we leverage the weapons transfers to ensure that running water is available to Palestinians. No cease fire, but humanitarian aid and quiet periods are created. Remember, Israel is a sovereign nation. We can't just instigate a regime change. Are we really going to " bring democracy to the middle east" game again like Bush Jr tried? This is a snowball that has created an avalanche and now, all of the world is working to move that avalanche 1 mile out but the best we're achieving is one inch. It's horrific.. So what's the other option.. kill every Palestinian? Because Israel could do that. It's not like they don't have the capability before October 7th happened. Oh.. and do we really want this conflict to expand beyond Israel/Palestine? How many more countries? Nukes? Terrorists? Civilian casualties in say... Quatar for example. Sometimes, I hate myself for saying this, you cut off a bit to ensure the rest survives. (I find it very promising that other Middle Eastern countries are keeping a lid on the outrage and affirming they won't attack.. even Iran has taken a step back.) Do not underestimate how bad it could be. Think of the entire Middle East in conflict. So it's not that I don't care. I do. But safely de-escalate and calm down so we can re-assess and try to build something.. I'm pretty sure the 2 state solution is gone btw. And I don't like the weapons transfers. It's just I get it. I don't live in some romantic dream. I live in reality. A reality where I strongly suspect that Bibi knew that October 7th attack would happen (Egypt warned Israel) and he wanted this attack to expand Israel. I also believe that Putin might have had a role in it because if our eyes are on the Middle East, what's happening in Ukraine? (It's Putin/Russia to Iran to Hamas.) See. it gets crazy.
@jenniferhunter40749 ай бұрын
last one.. The sweet leftists have no idea about how the US government works. I find them rather distressing. Their too authoritarian and pro-dictator. Sometimes, it seems they would have liked Trump if Trump were a leftist dictator. How exactly can any President do what they desire him to do? Checks and balances anyone? Executive orders? "forgetting " and playing some Iran/contra game like Reagan? Oh.. and meddling in other countries more than we already do? Their hysterical demands break the fundamental system of governance in the US. How do you demand a cease fire with another sovereign entity. Obama had a months in his first term and then, he lost the senate. From that point on, the republicans sabatoged him and worked to make Obama a one term president. They then spent another 4 years attacking him and attacking Hillary Clinton who was and still is the most attractive presidential candidate in terms of sheer experience and achievements. I mean, if you're hiring an employee, you want a Hillary Clinton resume rather than Bernie or Trump or many other candidates These morons also don't understand why Biden is compelling as a candidate. They seem to forget that 30% are rabid trumper conservatives. Tack on a few more percentages of voters who lean right. Then, look at Biden. What's the worst things that Trump and the Republicans accuse him of? Of being old? Notice they don't describe him as evil demonic or whatever. They tried the pedo thing but it doesn't really stick. They tried the "When Biden was 30 years old he did x racist thing/sexist thing" and 1. I would hate to be judged by who I was when I was 30 and 2. Is present day Biden an evil man? I mean, when we hear the recording of how he loves his son, that seems rather ... nice. I wish my dad had said that kind of stuff to me. So they'll pull this conspiracy where the DNC cheated Bernie or something. Except that when you look at the votes, it was clear that the voters wanted moderates. The moment the other two moderate candidates dropped, Biden automatically gains them. It's like somebody who wants vanilla ice cream. Just because two brands of vanilla ice cream disappear from the aisle doesn't mean that this somebody will choose fried chicken or something. They want vanilla ice cream. So they'll buy the store brand. It wasn't some conspiracy. It was looking at those voter demographics as a whole rather than thinking it was some cult or something. Same for choosing Ms. Harris as VP. 1. I love the fact that Biden picked someone like her and 2. She's favorable to voters who lean conservative but can't quite go as far as Biden. so in the end, I'm voting blue and it's down that ballot. I'm trying to ensure that I get as many democrats elected. I'm trying to build an army in that government that can and does have the supply chain and the resources and the support to actually do something rather than...defend and hold against constant republican/conservative attacks. One person can't do it alone. But a blue whitehouse/blue senate/blue congress..and we flip some states.. oh .. suddenly, I'm getting very hopeful.

On the surface, he’s been deemed the most popular president we’ve ever had, and even had support from the “Reagan Democrats.” I was but a child during his presidency, but I remember him. I’ve read about him slashing corporate taxes, cutting taxes to the wealthy, his anti union stance, and the laundry list goes on. Reagan even had support from the Evangelical base led by Paul Weyrich who said during a speech in which Reagan attended, “We don’t want everyone to vote.” Check it out. It’s clear why the modern GOP doesn’t want everyone to vote because if all eligible could, they wouldn’t be able to try and clamp down a Christo-Fascist dystopia they’re aiming to implement. They want to rule when they know the majority of Americans don’t support their policies, and it all started with Reagan, the most overrated president we ever had.

But if you show them actual graphs of the price of oil and fuel for the past 30 years and point out the prices they claim were low was ONLY BECAUSE THE WHOLE WORLD WAS SHUT DOWN IN 2020. There was no consumption/ demand versus supply. Air traffic was a tiny fraction of what it was and most people were not driving to work. Then in 2022 the U.S. economy started to run away with itself and prices skyrocketed. Fuel prices have been dropping for the past 3 months. So who do we blame for that now or give credit to?

Because thats what conservatism is as a whole. I hate how people still see it as a fair and legitimate ideology, when its so clearly the reason behind so many of society's ills. To be conservative may not necessarily mean you're malicious or evil (that would be more the perview of fascists), but fundamentally, the ideology promotes stagnation and regression, and has always opposed progress at every turn. Conservatives were the ones to oppose feminism, racial equality, LGBT+ rights and acceptance, etc, and its time we delegitimize it in the eyes of the public. Because if we think this stops at republicans or modern day conservatives, then we doom ourselves with naivety.

I assumed that's what everyone respects, wants, at least respects. It didn't dawn on me, that there are people who do NOT want All people to be equal under the Constitution. Also Putin is smart and has a very effective propaganda machine! He doesn't need to attack America with soldiers, he just has traitors like Traitor Trump, or f.e., Traitor Tommy Tuberville boycott the US Military! Flooding social media with lies and deceit. Well, when RatpubliKKKans figured out the only way that anyone would vote for them is , if they're uneducated and stupid, backfired, because Putin was able to capture their minds and now these uneducated, gullible morons are now trying to destroy America and Democracy from within! @B_Estes_Undegöetz9 ай бұрын
I’d suggest you look further back than that. If you want the modern “original big lie” that the GOP adopted and fed to the US electorate go back to the 1960s, Barry Goldwater and the “Southern Strategy”. When the Democrats very boldly went out on a limb for social justice and civil rights and by doing so alienated the so-called “Dixiecrats”; the white southern Democrats for whom racism and the lingering southern “culture” of segregation were part of their assumed daily lives; the Republicans adopted the “Southern Strategy” gleefully pounced on the opportunity to pick up these new voting supporters. Almost overnight the Republican Party changed its essential character and gained millions of new racist poor and working class white voters, and consciously decided to jettison any hope of ever attracting black voters again. This sinister and cynical calculation was the GOP’s response to the Kennedy Democratic Party’s effort to guide the USA into a new future of equal rights for everyone. Instead of moving with the times and allowing the American Republic to finally slowly live up to its promise, the GOP In the 1960s, using typical Christian, “personal responsibility” anti-communist rhetoric and “conservative principles” as the rationale, convinced the southern establishment racists they need not change a thing because they were the superior people and were “right” after all, and the GOP would support them if the evil, godless, communist, n-word loving Democrats etc. etc. no longer would. And of course the economic benefits that would continue to accrue to the current white ruling elite in the south would now donate to the GOP. THIS moment more than any other in the last 75 years defines the nature of the GOP and its lies and the way it rules by lying and telling ever bigger lies in order to maintain the illusions it seeks to create. Reagan was critical to destroying the labor movement and unions in America, and many other things, especially that biggest lie that we still are being crushed by today; supply side / trickle down economics as the new “orthodox” American economic approach. After 50 years of this promise of prosperity for the middle class the wealthy have seen their relative fortunes and prosperity increase by hundreds or even thousands of times while the middle class has remained stagnant and the poor have not only increased in percentage but also in relative poverty. Not since the Great Depression have the poor is the USA been in so bad a condition, while the rich in America are now enjoying prosperity WITHOUT HISTORIC PRECEDENT. Only the gilded age of the late 1800s is close. And this is thanks to the economic work of Reagan (and Thatcher and Mulroney, and many other “Conservatives”) in the 80s cutting taxes on the rich and corporations as a way of helping the poor and middle class. But the critical turning point where the modern relationship between the two parties and the American people was established was Barry Goldwater and the adoption of the GOP’s adoption of the Southern Strategy is the early 1960s. The idea that America needs to maintain a modern permanent underclass even when the opportunity is presented to undo racial and gender hierarchies is a GOP idea. The permanent black underclass that can be used to take the blame for all of society’s ills is a GOP idea that is their reaction to the Democrats civil rights initiatives. Disgusting. And, to be clear, why the GOP has always been in essence a fascist party, willing to rule based on a racial mythology, and anti-democracy principles of “small government” (which is just a clever way of saying “no effective elected government at all … just allow the local rich ruling class and the hierarchy of the rich and powerful run things however they want”) It’s been there since at least the 1960s, and is becoming terrifyingly clear with Trump who is now clearly adopting the language of Hitler and the Nazi’s with his use of the word “vermin” and “the blood of the nation”, and his bold proclamations about using the military and the justice department and other parts of the judicial branch to eliminate US citizens he dislike, disfavored groups as well as his political enemies. Why patriotic Americans are waving a flag for this man is beyond understanding, and why so many citizens are interpreting this as just amusing reality TV is almost as terrifying as the fact Trump is now saying this stuff every day.
