Do you need to take antibiotics before a root canal and extraction

If the patient is having systemic symptoms like fever or local symptoms like swelling, cellulitis or space infection then it is better to administer antibiotics even before initiating RCT or doing extraction. Preferably one day prior to the treatment

My Dentist asked me to take anti biotics for 7 days? Im just worried thats a lot of anti biotics. Please advise doc ❤

Amoxicillin 3 times a days for 7days*

Depending on the disease symptoms we may advise for 3-5 days of antibiotics. Some specific situations like persistent swelling, systemic symptoms etc may require antibiotics for extended duration. Kindly discuss with your dentist and make a final decision as I am not aware of the reason for which the antibiotics were advised. Thank you

Ornidazole also a same of metronidazole...they are all nidazole group antibitics

Yes. Instead of Amoxicillin and metronidazole we shall go for Ofloxacin and ornidazole
