Very poor understanding of Trump and the US, its deficits and increasing debts.

Tariffs are not good for global trade, but I include the protectionist 21.8% EU VAT in this statement which has already been levied against all non-EU countries. The tariffs levied on Mexico and Canada may be perceived as a quick fix by Trump and associates, but is more likely to backfire on the US economy and alienate consumers. There are smarter ways to go about this, albeit more time-consuing to implement, to reduce trade imbalances, money laundering, tax evasion and fentanyl trafficking, ... Edgar Fedige's 0.3% APT Tax is just one example. Tariffs are a thing of the past since the income tax beccame the norm.

Nope, we know we've been abused for years even by our "neighbors". You likely have no idea that for instance Canada imposes a 235% tariff on US milk. The EU is similar in many ways, VAT being one instance but hardly the only tariff. We've suffered from a constant wealth drain for half a century now, to the point that our middle class has been decimated. We have the elite superrich, a cadre of professional class, and a large class of poor. We're prepared to deal with increases in prices, to stop the abuse. No more EVOO from Italy nor Spain, getting it from the Queen Creek olive mill in AZ instead. I'm a US "consumer", but I'm not short-sighted like far too many here, who only worry about paying their obscenely high mortgage payment. The EU, China (already reeling economically from their RE collapse), Canada, Mexico, all will pay a MUCH higher price than we will in economic chaos. We've outsourced our industry and agriculture for decades, and it's time to stop. Bring back all of it, including manufacturing which has the largest multipliers of all jobs. We were bamboozled by idiots like Paul Krugman, whose "apology" for causing the loss of millions of US manufacturing jobs is woefully inadequate - the moron should be in prison for what he did. The problem in the US, why we are in recession, is because wages have not kept anywhere near price inflation. We need high wage jobs, and "interconnectedness" of global trade has been disastrous for us. We have the world's largest Federal debt, at >$36T. That's not counting the unfunded liabilities which are more than double that amount. When (not if) we default on US treasuries because we can't pay even the interest which passed $1 trillion this last year, who will bail us out? The EU? Canada? Mexico? China?....LOL. When that default happens, THEN you'll see global economy collapse. The world might finally wake up and realize it killed the goose that laid the golden eggs by taking advantage of the morons in our academia and government who naively believed in the myth of free trade. But it will be too late.

The biggest help against european socialism would be allowing Medicare and Medicaid to start negotiating drug prices. Make the europeans pay for their own communist systems.
