Such a cool fan - I love the jaunty angle on the ribs that held the badge. Definitely underpowered - I was amazed at how slow it was to get up to speed after you serviced it.

Interesting in that “Aircastle” was the “house brand” of stereo and electronics from the Spiegel catalog out of Chicago. My first stereo in the early 1970’s was an Aircastle AM/FM/8 track unit. Since this fan is from Chicago, maybe it’s from Spiegel too.

I have a Frigid P20 3-Speed box fan that has a tremendous amount of sentimental value to me. I am trying to find someone that I could pay to fix it. Do you have a side-business where I could send it to you for repair? The fan worked without issue all of last year. I stored it in a room for the winter and then a month ago plugged it in to run it but the motor did not turn on at all.

I'd be happy to help, however there might be 2 issues.... One might be the cost of shipping. I'm located on Long Island, NY so I'm not sure how far away you are but shipping a big heavy metal box fan like that might be pricey. The 2nd issue is there is a good chance it might just need a motor. If it has a General Electric motor in it chances are it's done what those motors do best and the connections with all the aluminum windings they use have failed. ( It even happens if the fan is sitting around not getting used!!!) I would start by first double checking that you can spin the blades my hand and they spin freely and if that's the case, take a look at that motor and see who made it. I know Frigid used those GE motors in a lot of their fan, but some did use Westinghouse motors, which have proven to me MUCH better motors in the long run. Let me know what you find out! @@colin_5839 Thanks Colin for your response. Is there an email address I can correspond with you further on? Yes the fan blades spin freely. I am unable to ascertain the model of the engine but maybe I am missing something. I'm highly motivated to pay someone. Are you able to replace the motor if it ends up being the motor? I could always order another working vintage Frigid fan and have it sent to you and we could take out the working motor and have it put it in my fan. Let me know what you think and how to best reach you. Thanks!
