This came out pretty nice...but only for decoration. The handle material is soft pinewood. It must be non cracakbe hardwood like hickory, but if u are from europe we have acace here, hornbeam, beech tree and lastly because its not the best oak.

Hi, and thank You for your comment. You are absolutely right. My neighbor offered me his piece of acace wood. But this axe is only for decoration. So soft wood was good enough to me. The axe is ready for action, but the handle is weak - only for few uses. Good luck. :)

@Mlenski_restorations Te quedo muy buena el hacha de bombero, muy brillante, realmente se el esfuerzo que lleva dar ese brillo, lija tras lija jajaja, me encanto la idea de pegar varias maderas para llegar al espesor del mango del hacha, la tomo para mi próxima restauración jajaja. You’ve turned this from an excellent tool into an ornament . There riveted for a reason , don’t know why you just didn’t get it chromed would of saved a lot of work.
