This is kind of Antique American style Meat Cleaver made of High carbon steel or Hard steel but have some serious cracks in it. It is a hand forged chopper cleaver. The handle was missing so i restored the blade and made a beautiful brass-wood handle for it which really feels good in hand. The final product look incredible and useful for use.
I did my best in it and hope your best in results. Please like and share the video. Share your valuable opinions in the comment section so we can grow more and do the best for you.
Antique Handmade Meat Cleaver | RESTORATION
I showed the whole procedure for restoring this chopper in this video.
o. The liquid i used to remove RUST was SULFURIC ACID.
o. Crack was filled with Iron welding.
o. Forged it to put some beautiful textures on it.
o. I used sandpapers of different GRITS to make the blade on my Belt sander.
o. Brass casting was done for the HANDLE to look more enchanting.
o. Dark colored wood was used for making handle.
o. For Hardening the blade i used my own handmade METAL MELTING FURNACE.
o. I used clear paint to shine the wooden handle and Brass was shined by special brass polish.

I personally like the grind technique where people indent the spine of a knife with grinder marks or sander marks. I first thought they where just heavily rusted areas but they're hammer marks. Anyways if they weren't all over the place they might look better.

There are tons of hacksaw blades available for many different purposes. There's a blade for finished/treated wood vs raw wood. Blades for ceramics and glass, different blades for different types and qualities of metal. I've also noticed some manufacturers make different ones look alike for marketing purposes. It's impossible to look at that blade while in motion to determine what its purpose was as the quality/recording speeds are too low to get a picture of the teeth.

Its more old school and brass is a specialist metal because if its properties (soft and you cant weld to it) so its something thats used in the right way to be really helpful to balance a blade , It must be a preference of feel and/or weighting on the handle.

It's no good as a handle material when used in this way. This due to how handles absorb shock. When you hit something with a knife, the handle absorbs shock and stops you getting a sting. Any metal handle that's pinned won't absorb that shock so you feel the sting a lot more. The brass is traditionally used as part of the handle guard to prevent damage to the handle.

This is probably the first handle i've seen you do that doesn't have a garbage epoxy gap in the junction between the brass and wood, you are definitely improving on that, do you also make sheats?(that thing you put the blade in, usually leather or wood) for them, if so you should show us too
