@@rafaelfranceschetti3428 宝創るちゃんねるATENALES is a channel I've been watching a lot lately. I don't think most of the restoration channels I've started following quite fall into the category of blacksmithing, but it's fascinating to see all the various techniques. I never would have expected to enjoy watching people sandblasting things, for example. The channel I just mentioned does everything manually with almost no use of power tools. Another whose name I can't think of polishes everything, down to nuts and bolts, and it's all so beautiful!

That knife will crack, after the hardening process you have to temper the metal to give it flexibility. Put the knife into an oven at 180 degrees celsius for an hour and a half, this is enough to temper it though you can alternatively use an open flame on clean metal so as to see the colour change. The metal will go a wheat/gold colour along the blade and if a flame is used the handle will remain silver. Between the handle and the blade, the metal will be blue if this is done correctly. After this process, you can continue the restoration however you please, even blacken the metal. In its current state however, the metal is hard enough to crack if dropped.

You know, I was always interested why they called it “dry sanding” is there wet sanding? Paste sanding? And the research for wet sanding was actually really interesting how it “floats” away all the particles that have been sanded off. But I still don’t understand why we don’t just wet sand everything if it seems more efficient.
