The green pitcher was gorgeous - I didn't think of Christmas when I saw it. Could use it for anytime of the year - a bold jewel tone green.

As I get older I have noticed the stores selling more reproductions . I am 70 years old and i want antiques over 100 years old and vintage at least 50 . Jeffery , you and Barb know what's good and what is not ! Collectibles over 25 or if they are highly collected. Most very young people under 25 don't know what's good . They don't want that old stuff ! We are letting go of some of our old things cause my grandchildren don't like old stuff. Too bad !

I am 60 years old. I've been collecting milk glass for well over 20 years. Neither one of my children want it. So I've been selling off a lot of my pieces.... duplicates of bud vases, most of my great/harvest pattern pieces. One of my neighbors bought a couple of the grape pieces from me and said that her niece had just started collecting for her kitchen. So that made me sparkle. Definitely keeping my hobnail pieces. I try to document everything that I buy. I write down where I got it and how much I paid. That way when I'm gone... they can keep it or sell it. I'm struggling right now because I don't know if I should sell my holiday barbies from the early nineties? My daughter's got me one every year for about 5 - 6 years. I'm in the process of downsizing and I really don't have anywhere to display them. But then I feel guilty. So I need to ask them again how they feel about it.

It's so frustrating to see reproductions! Part of what scares off new collectors is the spectre of buying something and then finding out you got ripped off. I think real antique malls should ban them...it's the mall owner's responsibility to keep them out
@francesh3423 Жыл бұрын
As long as reproductions are marked and priced as such, it's a start for aspiring but financially limited collectors. I remind myself that when I was younger, the older generation thought the same about me with antique and vintage appreciation and it's no longer the case. Happy to share what I now know with the energetic youth to pick up the torch at some point as us older collectors eventually did.

I am 72 and when younger in my 20s and 30s I did not appreciate old vintage things. When I started in my 49s I looked at things differently and started to appreciate older vintage things and started to collect them. No one appreciate them but someday they will hopefully but when I am gone I am gone. And it no longer matters.

You're so incredibly knowledgeable. I'm jealous, to be honest! Just recently into MCM glassware, so a few items popped out at me from your video. I am in Asia, so it's very hard and expensive to import this kind of treasure! I did buy some alibaster fruit from eBay after you explained that that was. ❤️

The dresser scarf that is colored in is called Tri Chem. It was a company that was kind of like Tupperware. People had parties and sold the paints and the pieces to paint. The paint came in tubes with points on the end to color with. My mother did it for a while. There is a box of the paints here somewhere. I hate it.
