Great to see how someone approaches bi-fold door builds. I built bi-fold garage doors with a small and a large door on each side which meant the doors do not stick out as much when opened. You really do need to have it all worked out before it is built. Very satisfying.

Yes absolutely. I love the fact it looks so simple and easy when its finished but if somebody then takes interest in the mechanics, they realise the work involved... i love their reaction at that point. It kinda sums up well done joinery all over.

An amazing video as always and I am looking forward to the rest of this project. I for one am really prone to making mistakes but I have changed my mindset. Years ago I would get angry, go and have a cigarette and then come back to it. Now I don't smoke , I think of 2 things when making a mistake - 1. Mistakes help us learn more than when we don't make mistakes. 2. I am glad I wasn't concentrating when I marked my groove rather than not concentrating when tightening the fence on the spindle. I would rather need a couple of new bits of wood than a couple of new fingers.

Thankyou Christopher! Yep, mistakes are fine and dont test patience until there is a time element or deadline introduce... that is when stress and pressure take their toll and dont do you any favours! Im pretty chilled with mistakes now. I guess because there is noone there to take the mik anymore haha!!!

I agree with you about positioning screws correctly. I think the vast majority of cabinet makers, carpenters particularly self taught ones, or badly trained do not have a clue about correct pilot holes, have never heard of clearance holes and you are right things never quite align and causes all sorts of issues down the line, particularly with making carcasses square, or surfaces flush, for example. Jut a wee bit of care-and knowledge- makes all the difference.

Another great video! I really love long videos like this one but I can't seem to find the time to watch them anymore :/ Your videos among others have sparked my interest in "old fashioned carpentry", building, repairing or altering utility items like doors and windows. I find the joinery and millwork involved very fascinating and I really appreciate how you take the time to talk through the process and explain what you're doing and why.

An old router plane! I’m well impressed , always fancied one 😂👍🏻 I’m a master at fixing F ups, for reasons we don’t need to divulge… I was screaming ‘turn it upside down!’ At the cill 😂👍🏻 I’m also fairly good at working out the magnitude of the F up instantly and whether it’s a redo or salvageable 👍🏻 Great to see I’m not alone 👍🏻. Success is 99 percent failure they recon, people can tell you and tell you, but that horrible ‘I’ve F’d up’ feeling and reaching in the wallet is the best teacher 😂

I love the router plane, I've always found them invaluable for certain operations! Yes I found you got good at fixing the balls ups pretty darn quick or you didn't make the grade in the workshop. The key was to fix it and not get caught before anyone would see... My work colleague had a canny back of apprearing just as I was glueing a block in a forgotten setback and giving a rye smile. (Lol)

Love watching your videos, proper joinery takes me back to school woodwork classes in the late 1960s (me good at the theory poor at the practical) the day we got a mortiser & everyone queuing up to have a go. One of the local factories was Bursgreen (Wadkin) that made these machines & a lot of local lads got good apprenticeships there (sadly no more like every decent manufacting in the UK).

@@BradshawJoinery I was driving a '77 Chevrolet and a gent in an old Ford pickup slid through a red light and hit my right front fender and hub cap. I bought a "new fender" on my noon hour at the local Chevy dealer and noticed the lead end of the fender to be welded wrong at the factory. Next day went to a local Bosch tool dealer and bought a 1578 Bosch. Then bought an oil drip that positioned at the blade running a 22T metal cutting blade. Still have the drip which attaches using an elongated special screw. Now we have dry cut blades-no drip. Oh, the pickup truck had 25 empty beer cans in the truck bed.
