Bonjour à tous,
This week at the château, Terry and Ash go on a little road trip across France on the hunt for some bargain antiques.
In one of the brocantes, Terry is in he’s very own Aladdins cave, filled with beautiful old items, but has to work he’s way through the cobwebs to find the antiques.
If you like our videos please subscribe to our channel and hit the like buttom on the video as It helps us massively 🙏🥰
If you would like to join us on our family journey restoring this once abandoned château, then please just follow the link below, 🥰

France
About us,
We are a family from the North-East of England following our dream to restore a beautiful abandoned french Château. We discovered the heart stopping Château De Lalacelle in summer of 2020, this beautiful architectural monument Is set in the countryside of North-West France.
The moment we visited the Château we all fell in love, from the beautiful sweeping landscape and forests, to its stunning untouched interiors and magnificent spiral staircase in the turret.
Unfortunately Château De Lalacelle has been abandoned for a number of decades so will need a lot of restoration and DIY.
Please subscribe and follow our families journey, with the up’s and down’s in moving from the UK to rural France and restoring this beautiful building to its former glory.

Great buys! Please consider not painting the hat stand! It’s glorious as is. It would be a shame to paint it. I also vote for Mom’s outdoor light to be black. So enjoy your banter and love for each other. Love from sunny and very humid Sydney! ❤️

For the hat stand, why not put different feet on it? And install the screw feet on them to level it? Instead of installing a top piece. The floor looks a little uneven based on the wall/door it’s in front of. Lovely piece btw.

What you are calling a hat stand is actually called a Hall Tree. It is meant to make a statement as you walk in the door, thus the beautiful wood carvings and details! Please, please, PLEASE do not paint it! It's absolutely perfect for the space just the way it is, though I give another vote to swap out the feet and make it taller. That chandelier is fabulous! Very cute brass umbrella stand too! I also vote on painting the lantern black...it will look fabulous against the stone of the cottage!

I would keep the hat stand as it is finished. I think it will pop against the painted paneling and just look like you are showcasing the hat stand vs trying to hide missing paneling. I would also suggest though changing out the feet. I would raise it up so the bottom is even with the top of of the baseboard. This will move it up just enough to hide the top of the old door cutout. I very much doubt anyone would even notice a feet swap either

You did very well with your beautiful hat stand, that just fits the spot you want to cover. I hope you don't gild it. Gilding the lily is a mistake. When a piece is perfect & original changing it with gilding detracts from it rather than adding anything. The chandelier will e better in a bedroom. When you put the glass shades on I think you'll see that it would have been too big for any bathroom. It is a handsome piece. For Mom's outdoor light I vote for black. Anything else for a traditional outdoor lantern like that at a chateau would be going against tradition & just wouldn't look right. You bought very beautiful useful pieces.

Ash & Terry are such a great couple. Ash gets frustrated by Terry’s ability to minimize the amount of time something takes or the distance it takes to just “pop over” somewhere.! But he loves him just the same.😂 I adore the playfulness you have with each other. The treasures you guys picked up are wonderful, especially the chandelier. That was a score!! To bad that brocante didn’t organize and clean up a bit. One could really see what offerings were available. It looked like he had some interesting bits, but one couldn’t get to them. Hugs to all from America 🇺🇸

Hi All...In the latest vlog, I really liked the hat rack and the chandelier that you purchased. Did I hear that you wanted to paint the hat rack? OMG, it's so beautiful with its original finish, I think you'll definitely regret painting over that beautiful original finish. Some antiques are made to be enjoyed in their original state. It may need a bit of polish and the brass hooks, it's rare to find a matched set on a piece like this. I can't wait to see where that great chandelier will be hanging in the chateau, the best to you all, Mark

Hi guys, love the hat stand, but please just give it a polish, it doesn't need paint or gilding. Tel.. you are arty so do a trompe l'oeil effect on the bit on the wall above the hat stand, or place the stand on a plinth, so it raises it that couple of inches. Special message for Jonathan for 40yrs time (2062).....It's payback time on the 2 old fellas lol.

That chandelier is so beautiful! Can't wait to see the bathroom that deserves that! As for the hat stand, you could put trim on the top to hide the hole, or you could raise it up a little on the bottom (which would disappear more). The top hooks would still be reachable and the mirror not too high for even shorter people to see themselves.

Love the antiques - especially the chandelier. But don't paint the hat stand - it is beautiful the way it is!!
