Antique Rusty Padlock Restoration - Better Result than @lostandrestored
In this video I am restoring an Very Rusty lock. The shap of this lock is different from other locks. There is no key to this lock.
The lock restoration project began by removing loose rust from the lock. After this I removed the reverts of the lock to disassemble the lock. After removing the reverts of the lock, when I opened it, there was a lot of rust inside it. I removed most of rust with one tool. and disassemble all the inside parts . After disassembling the lock, I kept all the parts of the lock in kerosene oil for 45 minutes so that the oil rust removed. I applied 12 volt current to remove rust from the lock. which gave me very good results.I sanded the lock plates with a angle grinder (120, grit). After this I start hand sanding, In which I used (220, 320, 400 grit ) sand paper . Sanding of (120 to 100 grit) on some parts of the lock. After this new reverts have been created . After restore all the parts, the lock is re-assembled. The front and back plates of the lock have been painted (Mat black). Black color on the lock , it looks very beautiful.
I really enjoyed working on this project though.

It's nice to see restoration that doesn't use sandblasting for every single step. It's nice to see the rust removing liquids work their magic and then the polishing and stuff. Personal touch, it's nice.

You are absolutely right, sandblasting is not necessary to remove rust, there are many other methods by which rust can be removed. I,m glad you like my work. Thank you very much😊

least you didn't use auto body filler (mud) for the piting and powder coat the lock housing/body. I detest when the "restorer" (note quotes) slops on mud making it "look" smooth and "new", then powder coats (usually with boring black).

Hmmmm...🤔 YES😍, a better result than @lostandrestored's restoration, BUT your padlock was in a lot better condition than his one, isn't it???... 🤔🤔😋 2 things disturbed me in his video: One was the fact he covered all the metallic parts with plastic, there are a lot better ways to fill pittings, another thing was the fact that he welded that nice new key with tin instead of brass, I don't know why every restorer on KZbin (even the restoration's "god" My Mechanics) usually do that, it's so easy to be welding brass properly with brass...😔 You preferred to just let the pittings (or time markings as you wish to spell it), but at the end you ruined it all with that black spray instead of bluing the parts, also that brass plate was surely restorable!!! But anyways you did a great job, really way better than @lostandrestored's one, congrats and keep going!! ❤❤❤

Yes, you are right,👍 the condition of his lock was a worse than the condition of my lock. This is also true, i should have been bluing instead of spray paint, But the black paint looks great. I will try next time to make a better video.😊 I am glad that you liked my video. Thank you so much.😊

Liked and subscribed, you are very good!! ❤❤❤ I would like to see you restoring a coffee grinder and a scythe!!! You don't need bluing liquid to be bluing parts, just heat them and soak them in vegetable oil!! It's a lot better than any bluing liquid!!! 😊😊
