Here's a cool idea for old linens: I have an old piece of linen...maybe it was supposed to be a small tablecloth, but around 50 years ago, my grandmother started to ask everyone in our family to sign it in pen and she embroidered their signatures. Most of those people have passed on. I now have it and I had my kids sign and I continue to embroider their names. It's so unique and meaningful.

Brave girl going shopping with the kids in towe. Girl, with your nak for DIY projects you could make your own quilt. You are a good shopper but I literally get weak in the knees when I enter an antique shop. I end up loving everything and going home with way more than I should. But it all brings me joy every single day of my life. Crystal knobs can always be used somewhere. you can even use them to hang up your coats. Put them on a strip of 4X4 add the knobs and hang your hats and coats. Aren't you glad I am not with you. So easy spending someone else's money. LOL What a find for $48.00. Wow. and I almost fell to the floor when I saw the chandelier you bought. (those darn weak knees). I lived vicariously with you today. Thank you for those moments of joy. Look forward to seeing all that you can share.

The look on your little boys face when he was asking for the toy was just the cutest ever. Loved seeing the antique store. When my parents bought their house 50 years ago it came furnished with antiques. My mum still has nearly all of the furniture. Mum is 84 and she also has her great grandmother's table and 6 chairs which were shipped over from England. That shop was certainly expensive. I won a wrought iron tester bed for my daughter on ebay a few years back for $12 nobody else even bid on it. Really enjoying all your videos. xx

It’s coming together! For the wooden drawers of the dressers or also clothing rods of wood I rub plain white wax on the base of the drawer and where it slides inside the dresser (a small white cheapy white votive will do the trick if you don’t have a bar of canning wax around): It makes them open so much easier.

Beeswax works better for sticky drawers, windows, doors! 3-in-1 oil helps also with sqeaky hinges, latches that are hard to work....add thise items to your homebody kit! As someone who has owned quite a few antique armoires, a lot of them could 'break-down' so they can be moved! Telltale signs of this are a top that lifts off, and a bottom shelf that pops up! It's been said that these old pieces are the forefathers of our current RTA furniture that you find everywhere! My current armoire is pine...was unfinished and also a knockdown RTA that I bought for 100 about 20 years ago...It came with a clothes rod but I was using it for an entertainment center. See if you can find an unfinished furniture store and see what they may haved

@penelopetwain83325 жыл бұрын
As with any business, you have to be competitive with your prices in order to succeed. So, if she's finding plates for $2 each at other shops in the area, then she's not unreasonable to only want to pay $2 each. And, if your prices are higher, then yes, you're going to have to shut down if you can't compete with the other stores in the area. It's not her fault that's the price they are going for elsewhere. I highly doubt you shop around and then buy the same item for twice the price (or more) just to support the shop owners, so it's not fair to expect her to do that to support your higher price.

I’m so glad you’re going for the wood antiques-they’ll be exquisite with all that white!! The chandelier you bought is so pretty-it looks a lot like the ones that are made in Spain. Love it so much. It seems we like the same kinds of things. When I saw your kids in the antique store I immediately thought how the owner must be chewing her nails and then I remembered what happened when I took my child with me to the jewelry store when I got my ears pierced. While I was being poked, she decided to try out the sterling baby teething rings to see if they were like the one someone had given her. I went home with four of them dented by her 4-year-old teeth!

Love this video. I hauled around a 1920ish light fixture that is a little more fancy then the one you have. Seriously, I spent around $20 for it over 25 years ago and never used it until I purchased my current house nine years ago. I cleaned it, had it rewired as it had the original wiring and that scared me and purchased replacement crystals for the ones that were missing. Probably spent a total of $30 on all of that. Finally, after all those years of hauling around and sitting in a box it graces my dining room and I love it. It is unique and no one has one like it.

We bought a major fixer upper and I WISH (over 6 years here now and still working on basics) that we had forked over some of the up fronts.... Also- some friendly advice to anybody looking to buy their first home, don’t get a nice realtor! You want someone who is kind but firm. Who is willing to tell you when you’re making a bad choice, and fight for your rights. This was our first time buying home, and our realtor was way too nice, and we got steamrolled. 🤦🏼♀️ Oh well. Live and learn!
