I like the Gerber MK 1, it was my first Gerber knife bought it in 1979. The early ones had tool steel blades. The MK2 had longer blade and serrations on sides of blade. There is also a model called the Command 1 and 2. They had serrations on one side of tip. They have rat tail tangs. They were really popular don't know why they discontinued them. If ya get luckey they also had a small dagger called Guardian 1& Guardian 2. Great video Stay Safe.

Thanks for sharing your experience with the MK 1. I have a lot to learn about these knives. I appreciate you watching, my friend.

What a cool knife and a great "blast from the past"! I always liked both the Mark 1 and the Mark 2. I actually preferred the Mark 2, but the price was way out of my league as a poor college student. Also, it was big enough I just couldn't convince myself that I had any practical use for one. Gerber did make non-serrated versions of the Mark 2, that's the version that I wanted. I remember that the serrated versions were way more popular though. I thought about buying a Mark 1 as a consolation prize, but I never quite got around to it. Then one day, neither the MK 1 or MK 2 were available in my town any more. I ended up buying a little Case boot knife instead. I'm still a bit of a sucker for boot knives, even though I still can't convince myself that I actually have any real use for one.

Thanks for the info, Mark. I did read that there were different variations of this "series" of knives. They are really neat daggers. I appreciate you dropping by, my friend.

I had a Mark 2 but it was sold off years ago. Wish I still had it. I still have one Gerber dagger type knife, I need to find it. When I was in high school, everyone wanted these type knives. Great find!

It was featured in the James Bond movie. Tomorrow never dies. And it started a dagger revival for knife collectors. Seeing pierce brosnan use it in the movie was cool.
@knifedelights7473 Жыл бұрын
I think it was a similar knife, but not the Mark 1. When researching the Mark one, the model used in the bond movie was mentioned. I just can't remember the model right now. Thanks for stopping by and watching, Bandit.

I've had one of those since 2007. I didn't know what it was for the longest time. One of the most prized knives in the collection for sure. That one's the early 1980s model, the late 1970s model had green paint on the handle and different blade steel.

the s in the serial # is for stainless (440) meaning its post 1981, prior to that they were L6 tool steel and blades measured to an even 5 inches, while the post 81 ss models were 4.5 in.
