Over 30 years ago my 8 yr old daughter and I stopped at a garage sale. It was 2 ladies who were cleaning out stuff from their antique store, stuff that didn’t sell for a long time. They told me, yes told me, I needed to buy the 20 volume set of the World Book of Knowledge from 1915 for $5. They were in excellent condition. I politely declined. But they kept at it! Offering to even carry them to my car. It was so funny them telling me I needed them. So finally I gave in. When we got home both my daughters started reading these books. These books were mailed to young adults who lived far from schools. My kids were reading about how to milk a cow, castrate a pig, churn butter, plant a garden, smoke meats, etc. They laughed and laughed! They read the books during the hot summer when they were bored. They still get them out when they visit. Who knew they would bring. So much joy to our lives. I’m hoping to have a carpenter build a bookshelf and into a wall to store them along with my antique finds.

That jewellery box, at 6:30, I remember one, we had in my family, when I was a child! Same size, but in silver! And then midnight blue silk on the inside. It even played a little, classical melody, when opened... I wish, I knew, where that disappeared too 😪 But I would SO have bought that one, restored it, and 😮used real gold leaf to guild it, and then, silk on the inside, in some amazing, vibrant colour! 😍 Perfect for a nightstand or dressing table 😊

Oh, and a fun idea, if you have a collection of small/medium sized, beautiful decanters, is to fill them with different colours of mouthwash, put them on a pretty tray with a couple of small glasses next to the sink! You can go even further, and decorate with pretty ribbons, flowers, handwritten labels, etc... And so nice if you have overnight guests, to just use a little decanter and glass in the guests bathroom, with a travel size toothpaste, as an extra little luxury 😊

Thank you!! I'm on the hunt for another decanter so I can put it in our guest bath. I think it would be amazing and very special to offer our family and friends a lovely decanter of mouthwash. So pretty!! ❤

@@the_dauer_diaries Its always nice to really feel welcome, when you visit someone, and especially if you stay overnight 🙂 I saw someone on KZbin, who made a huge giftbasket for their guests.... And the idea is good, but it does not have to be so extravagant. In fact, wether you have a guest suite or an air mattress, you could do this anywhere - Simply make a little gift bag or basket, with travel sized essentials, a few snacks and a beverage. Who wouldn't love that? 🙂

I really like the horse statue - such movement! I have a basket like that purchased years ago. You’ve inspired me to decorate with it for spring. I typically line it with a linen napkin and use it for rolls or bread on the dinner table.
