Finally, someone explained what the (mostly very beautiful and delicate) Netsukes are made for! I feel so "enlightened" right now 🤭 Thank you so much!

Love these old episodes. A lot of these people have passed on and are forever memorialized in them. Thank you!

How could they build that ugly convention center right on the beach? What a shame.

There's a lot of that in these older episodes, and mainly the women, not a class thing either, posh and common equally guilty.

It sounds like a bit of electronic Brandenburg. Wendy Carlos? Or a "homage" by the BBC's own Radiophonic Workshop.

My parents are of that age, and I have a theory. They were raised with a reverence for "authority," which works in two ways. First, the elders show respect to the experts, who make statements based on education and experience unavailable to the older generation, education and experience the elders clearly revere and cannot imagine having themselves. (Oh, yes, such a good point, so cleverly made.) Second, the elders crave acknowledgement for recognizing the experts' superior knowledge. (See how clever I am for seeing how smart you are?) I know this as an artifact of the WWII generation who had to use their own prodigious skills and talents to survive bombings and other privations and came, in turn, to value book learning over more practical skills. We need all of them now!!

@@kayehenry3737 Very good points, and I understand what you are saying. It just makes it difficult to hear what the experts are saying for us, and that's what makes it frustrating. Thank you for your insight though.
@kayehenry37375 жыл бұрын
@@deetsy4jesus I agree completely that their constant interjections are distracting and prevent our hearing the experts, the whole reason we watch the show. (I wonder if the elders also prevent themselves from hearing the experts.) Thanks for acknowledging that I was just trying to explain, not excuse, their behavior.

@pzkpfwiv freak. I absolutely have to disagree with you on that one. The Keno brothers are so passionate and knowledgeable about their love of antique furniture it's refreshing and they seem like great fellows as well!!!

hughe making a statement indicating 100 yrs history is recent is to this Australian.. weird!
Now, hold on. We expect that you'll occasionally pull a snook on us, but this grotesque visage. along with your experts fawning over it, is quite another. Nes pa?

Yes, yes, yes....Yes, yes,yes,yes......... How boring and stupid!! If I was on public television I would say a lot more than (yes, yes).
