Love your tips, and you are so accurate and wise. I would add: 1) While haggling on the price, always be polite and smile. Explain how you love the item but wondered if it was their best price? Compliments will get you far! 2) This may just be me, but I always antique/thrift/garage sale alone. I know what I like, I am on a mission for what I am looking for, and I don't want to waste time on what interests someone else nor do I want to be influenced by someone else in my decision. It is not social time for me, it is serious business! LOL! 3) For me, the hunt for treasures is half the fun. Lots of times I don't find anything, but I always love looking. Love your channel!

This made me smile! I usually go with 2 gal pals, & they tend to keep me in check - I often want it all!- so I call them my voice of reason in narrowing down the haul! 😉

I have found many antique treasures in my life. I love the idea that the item has had a life before. Also, I recently inherited many family antiques. For example. I inherited a pie safe that my husbands family has owned for generations. It was made by a family member. My mother in law wrote cards for each item with the history and a story behind them!

Wow you are so blessed to have the history or provenance of each family heirloom. We have pieces that are very old, like at 300 yrs old but that is all we know. 😢

I recently dug into the very bottom of the dirtiest and grungiest booth in an entire store and found a set of 4 vintage copper canisters for $4.95. Definitely always dig.

The brick wall at 10:43 is gorgeous! I’d love to create a faux brick treatment to look like that.

I have loved antiques since I was very young. My mom loved them, I guess that's where I got it at.

Today I went to Goodwill for the first time in months. I found a beautiful painting on canvas, would have been perfect for my home but it was marked at $70! The frame was a heavy, vintage looking gold, Victorian style. The painting was on a canvas that had been pushed into the frame. Our local thrift stores have gotten super expensive.

Andrea Gorham Prices on antiques have really dropped since 2008. Baby Boomers are downsizing and the younger crowd doesn’t want antiques.

Most antique items are by far better quality than the newer stuff today. For instance the pyrex of the past are a lot better than the cheap Chinese stuff that break in the oven while baking... Wood, iron, glass and stone, they pretty much last forever!
