As a fellow IAFF firefighter and leatherworker, keep up the AWESOME work. I dig the tips. My grandfather taught me how to work leather, but died before I could master it. Your tips fill in the blanks. Thank you and keep it up!

I the timing on this video is perfect. I was about to antique some white paint and had no idea about the tan cote. Thank you very much for saving my project.
@AttackLineLeather4 жыл бұрын
Absolutely. Glad i could help. One thing i probably should have added into the video is that at the very end after your antique has dried, i apply one more layer of tan kote to seal the whole project.

Wish I watched this back in March. I don't know why I didn't think of Tan- Kote. Good tip.

After cleaning off any excess Antiquing Paste from the White Painted Texas, do you apply another coat of Tan-Kote to the entire project? Your video is great. Thanks.
@AttackLineLeather4 жыл бұрын
Yes i do

Is there a benefit of "tan coat" over regular "resist"?
@AttackLineLeather3 жыл бұрын
You can oil through tan kote better. It really comes down to preference.
@fordfan31793 жыл бұрын
@@AttackLineLeather thanks, I already bought the resist and thought I might need to get something else. I won't be oiling over this particular project anyway. Good stuff to know though.

Been having trouble with the antique paste rubbing off days after it’s dry, am I doing something wrong? Great video
@AttackLineLeather4 жыл бұрын
After the antique dries be sure to apply another layer of tan kote
@Tzazilas4 жыл бұрын
Great demonstration! Lemme ask, why did you burn the dauber? Stay safe!
@AttackLineLeather4 жыл бұрын
Thanks for the comment. I burn the dauber so that the fuzz doesn't rub off onto my project and gets sealed in. It doesn't look very good if that happens.
@Tzazilas4 жыл бұрын
@@AttackLineLeather Oh, it makes sense now. Thanks, keep it up!

Would leather sheen work instead of the tan kote?

Yes it should

So it looks like you rubbed the paint off did you repaint it and not show it?
@AttackLineLeather3 жыл бұрын
No i didn't need to repaint anything.. If you are talking about the part around 4:03 that is left over residue from the antique which is cleaned up with the tan kote and kew tip

Okay thank you
@Jeweled_and_tooled_customs3 жыл бұрын
@@AttackLineLeather so would the clear finish work the same as tan kote? From Tandy’s. My white looks yellow after antiqued does that mean I should try the q too thing after?
@AttackLineLeather3 жыл бұрын
@@Jeweled_and_tooled_customs I have not used that finish so I dont have first hand knowledge of it but I would definitely try this method of cleaning the leather. Be sure to experiment on scraps first 😁
