Printing is done on very large roller machines and each color is added separately on its own roller. Most likely they went light on ink due to the larger print run of revised.

Possible definitely. I have read that the issue though was “worn out print ribbons” I’d be curious to see the process

Nice! A couple of years back I bought a random buy of 8-10000 minty cards from 93-95 for like $300. 2000 was Vampires of the eternal struggle, 1000 was Wyvern, 1000 was revised basics and 99%the rest was revised, I’ve age, fallen empires and homelands. At the bottom of the box was a little clump of antiquities, legends, and the dark. First and last time I will ‘pull’ a moat and land equilibrium 😆

Print ribbons... this is a multi color offset print, there is no such thing as a print ribbon in a printing machine ;-) Now what seems to have happened is that the color calibration was not really a priority at the time (it isn't again these days). These cards were likely made at different times by different print shops using different inks or printing plates from different manufacturers resulting in the different vibrance of the colors. In a high quality print shop delivering high end work the colors of the final print are compared to the originally specified colors and adjusted if they deviate to far from the source. If you are working on a budget and its all about getting this stuff printed fast rather than perfect (see the centering for example) then this step is skipped entirely and its just good enough when the image is recognizable.

next thing to do after associating that i had a correct assumption which was four horsemen = old school, reserved list, powerful, minty... d00d i think i got within top 2 best bronze age card to get graded. (foil SOM mox opal).

these numbers would predict that it is more horsemen than my mint italian mirror universe. 1 horse for reserved list + 1 horse for old school + 0 horse power + 1 horse minty - .25 horse non-english ~ 2.75 horses. this does not mean it should be $275. foil mox opal = 0 horse reserved list, 0 horse old school + 1 horse power + 1 horse minty + ... complementary horse = extremely low print run + legend that likes to rely on 4. 3 total horses.

Watching you be so careful sleeving the cards made me wonder about something. Out of curiosity what penny sleeves do you use? Recently I have taken a liking to Beckett penny sleeves. They have a little extra lip on one side of the sleeve to make sleeving much easier.
