Can I beat a Pokemon Hardcore Nuzlocke challenge in Heartgold and Souldsilver using only Ice types?
Nuzlocke Rules:
-Fainted Pokemon must be permanently boxed
-Only the first encounter on any given route may be caught (dupes clause)
-All pokemon must be nicknamed
Hardcore Rules:
-Always Set mode
-No items from the bag option in battle (held items are ok)
-No overleveling the next gym leader

Ice types do continue to get shafted in that department, but there‘s definitely more to Pokemon than just a competitive battling aspect, especially in in-game playthroughs.

Currently at Lance’s fight so not sure how it ends... BUT the situation at this point was totally avoidable. Sneasel was 4x weak to fighting. Letting Lapras/Dewgong take a Hitmonlee’s attack would have saved a lot of carnage. Anyway, ICE TYPES are INCREDIBLY UNDERRATED. I actually think they’re my favourite type these days. I did a Soul Silver run with Glaceon (starter), Dewgong, Cloyster, Weavile, Piloswine and Lapras and had an absolute blast. I only cheated to have Glaceon as my partner Pokemon - the rest I caught as you would in the game.

Great run Probably it could have been easier with Froslass from the Walker and Sneasel at route 28. Delibird can be found only in SoulSilver (serebii is my source) so the only 2 possible encounters in the Ice Path were Swin and Jynx And Yeah, Jynx could also be found in Seafoam islands but probably it would have been more useful during that Bruno fight

You can only get Froslass after you beat the elite 4 and unlock the icy mountain path. Which leads to the question of how tf did he get a sneasel before beating the elite 4?

Shell Armor Lapras is the only consistent mon that beats Clair's Kingdra, so having it in this run is a blessing. Only good Shell Armor mon at that point in the game and you can Rest stall it out of Dragon Pulse. Smokescreen is definitely still annoying, but it doesn't make Rest less accurate since it's not an attack

Im pretty sure you can’t unlock the icy mountain road to get sneasel on the pokewalker until after you beat the elite 4. Edit: I checked the pokewalker routes and the only two ice type Pokémon you can get from the pokewalker before beating the elite 4 are shelder who evolves into cloyster, and smoochum from the Blue lake and Dim cave pokewalker routes respectively

I’m very confused….everytime I’ve played a pokemon game and a flying normal type used roost and I then hit it the either a rock, ice, or electric move, it says supereffective and does the supereffective damage

Roost has always either ignored the Flying type’s weaknesses (Gen IV) or dropped the Flying type for the turn (grounding, Gen V+).
