Ive seen this before Mike! Only kidding 😂 That was most refreshing, great to see the Postie 47's there ,you know you must start giving us more arhive footage from the vaults ! I really enjoyed this footage from 1998 cheers Nick.

Great video, brings back good memories. I remember going on holiday to Gt Yarmouth with my parents when I was a child and a 47 taking over from electric at Norwich(?). My dad worked freight trains as a guard on the western region at the time so 47’s were his bread and butter.
@antman09ful17 күн бұрын
Oh that is good that it reminded you of your holiday David, its such a shame the way the railways have gone now with no long trains to seaside resorts anymore like when I did this filming. Thank you very much for your comment, and for watching my video.

I've often wondered if you had any hidden gems in your archive Mike, and i wasn't dissapointed either. Great bit of filming from the Great Yarmouth area mate. Thanks for sharing and i look forward to more of the same. Take care, Colin.

Yes Colin I have many hours of footage, not been able to upload any for a long time as I had problems with my set up and couldn't be bothered to sort it out till Saturday afternoon. The other problem I might have is uploading some footage I did years ago again. Thanks mate for your comment on this one, the next will be next Sunday at the moment, regards Mike.

Superb Mike. Makes me realise what i missed as i've only done Great Yarmouth 3 times...all in the last 2 years on 755s which are great units tbf.. I take it the drags are to/from London, services via Norwich. I take it the normal local services were operated by 150/153 or 156s. Great video btw. .
@antman09ful15 күн бұрын
Yes Chris you are right about all you put in your comment, I'm very pleased you enjoyed this old stuff from my early days of filming. The plan is to upload more old footage every Sunday so I hope you find the next one to your liking, regards Mike.

Great video. I always find old footage like this interesting to watch, as a reminder of how the railways used to be The Hastings unit certainly got around that year, as I seem to remember it was on hire to Wessex Trains (or whatever it was called then) for a while
@antman09ful16 күн бұрын
Yes I agree with you but I ask myself has travelling by train got any better, ok the trains are a little bit faster but the comfort on trains I have to say NO. Thank you for your thoughts on this video, and I will be sorting out more old stuff from the past, cheers.

Hastings Diesels hire out the unit to different TOCs , but sometimes they abuse her and have little respect for the 60 year old beauty that is 1001 . Not all TOCs though just some . I ride out on this unit quite regularly on Hastings Diesel Railtours and I can highly recommend a trip to anyone.
@matthew06056 күн бұрын
Also the comfort on the seats which are the old sprung , horsehair cushions which are incredibly comfortable compared to the rock hard (no cushion ) seats that modern trains have .
