At the risk of being a little facetious (sorry!) around this stunning piece of music, one of the quickest-passing, most pleasurable 20 sonic-minutes for me ... I came across a way of auto-generating Jon Anderson lyrics... You take one of Clannad's Gaelic ballads ( kzbin.info/www/bejne/pIGolWpoarB9ntE ) and mangle it through Google Translate: (From "Coinleach Ghlas an Fhómhair") Are the autumn green stubble Oh dear that I looked at me Your foot in shoes was nice it's too nice for a version. Your cheeks are the color of the roses your couches were closely woven If the king of Spain was moved Overseas with its exact crowds I'd push grass and wilderness And I would be with my brown - haired girl. Move and come to his first hen Or we go over a cliff-wind Separately Crops and swans from the waves That will not be separated And only folly is being put over us.

He's a proficient copy artist; one of the best, and in terms of prog royalty Yes, ELP, Genesis, he's a master. Where's the Gentle Giant? Kansas? UK? Personally, having been in Yes & Elp tribute bands, I know full well the work involved. But the reason those bands are so respected, is that they WROTE the shit. So while Howe, Wakey, etc are incredible players, their genius lies in composition and arrangement. Antoine is terrific. Listen to Jordan Rudess do ELP's Tarkus - incredible copy. But I want to hear a new crop of prog writers/performers. Will there ever be another age of music with such creativity unleashed? Make It So!

@thereallightwarrior906 Жыл бұрын
@@paulbrookes413 Thanks for that - “Awaken” is one of,if not MY FAVORITE Yes compositions ever! The guitar solo is Howe at his shredding tasty best, with mind-blowing ‘Encyclopedia Pyromaniacal Galactical’ best riffs, licks, phrases, and leads to perfection. Wakey’s organ solo achieves the same level of brilliance, with contrapuntal thematic phrases that build like a Bach masterpiece, showing the listener that a sophisticated modern baroque prelude and fugue can be the fundamental heart of the composition that teleports the listener across the cosmos, always with the same answer, “YES!”. No piece shows us better the pure genius of their artistry than “Awaken” does through repeated listenings.

18 minutes for 50 years of Yes music. Wow. The best tribubute of Yes i've ever heard in my whole life.

I cried like 5 times watching this. Thank you for all of your work here, as you did everything right. The mix was just slamming! The moves, the faces, shots of the mellotron inside!! and ... that amazing sound check jam got included. That is fandom right there, any one that knows that brief clip. Love love loved it.

No Autotune, no sampling, no drum machines. Just talent, skill and heart. Thank you for giving me faith in humanity. You are supremely talented.

Fun Fact, The mellotron is actually considering one of the first "sampler" instruments due it playing back tapes of preciously recording instruments. So technically Yes was sampling all the way back in 1971-1972

Not in my lifetime could I master any of those instruments, let alone all of them. Incredible talent and - as a Yes fan for almost 50 years - most of this was virtually indistinguishable from the original versions. Amazing.

Good sir, you have blown us away with a Rush Medley, mesmerized us with a Genesis medley, and just now sent us floating in the clouds with this Yes masterpiece! 3 of my all time favorite bands!!! I will have a very peaceful sleep tonight after hearing and seeing this beautiful work of art. Thank you Mr. Baril!

Hell of a quality choice starting off with Silent Spring. Talk is massively underrated.

I kind of struggled with it at the time, but hearing that at the start was absolutely ecstatic - makes me want to revisit Talk.

Chris B Few people seem to know that Talk exists. Unfortunately...and that includes Apple Music. I have a promo copy of Talk. Someone who created a rip of Talk from the vinyl posted a photo of the vinyl with the You Tube upload. Bless that soul...my promo copy of Talk is a CD.

I love Talk. I think Endless Dream was a huge update to the Yes epic and frankly I was not as impressed with the Keys to Ascension material. Don’t get me wrong, that’s good stuff too. Just not as good as Endless Dream. Wakeman was originally supposed to be part of the band before Talk, but the label owner wanted the 90125 Yes, so he was out. We can only imagine what Talk would have been like with Wakeman’s involvement.
