I still consider this to be one of the greatest songs written on acoustic guitar.

My mother absolutely loved this song and we listened to it together time and time again. She's no longer with us, but whenever I hear it it's like she's right there with me. Thank you, Antoine!

Haven't listened to this song in probably 11 years and I just got about 38 seconds in and I'm thinking to myself "OH MY GODDDD I forgot how much I love this player and these recordings. Beautiful sounds. Friggin love this guy's mind and his playing.

I misread "technique" as language... but is music not, at its core, a universally understood language? Feelings are spoken through it, thoughts are conveyed with it. It is structured, yet fluid. It can be interpreted in many ways.

I’ve been meaning to write to Antoine for years to tell him how much I love and appreciate his music. This song in particular. I get tears in my eyes every time I hear the chorus. No one has ever been more attuned to what I love about music.

I dedicated this song to my very first girlfriend. I never felt love before and I still remember to this day how she made me feel. She was perfect... but she was all the way across the states(I was in Virginia and she was in Texas). We never saw each other, but that love was real. We talked every single day, before and after school, for hours, and on weekends we would talk all night until the sun came up. I remember her telling me how beautiful this song was when I sent it to her. I thought I was going to be with her for the rest of my life... but she ended up getting really sick, and passed away. For years I couldnt listen to this song, it hurt way too much. This is the first time I have heard this song in over 6 years... and it still hurts. R.I.P. Sarah. I still miss you.

Its okay dude. We all have people that are dear to us in life. Even though I never saw her, I still loved her. Say what you want, our feelings were real.

how did she die? Infected with a virus?
@ace4evr9 жыл бұрын
If you must know, she had diabetes and became really sick from low blood sugar. She got a shot and had an allergic reaction over night, dying from heart failure in her sleep.

Elijah Martin I'm sorry to hear man. A good buddy of mine was murdered and this song has always brought him to mind. Many people would call it stupid, selfish, bullshit. Fuck them. He was a good guy and did not deserve to go as he did. Let those feelings out, brother. Wish you the best.

This is why I hesitate to do anything with music. When you see something this amazing and beautiful you have to question if what you're bringing to the table is really worth anyone's time.
@rmaldo2710 жыл бұрын
That's where you messed up. Music isn't about thinking what everyone else is going to feel. It's about how you feel about it, and you're only job as a musician is to make others understand where you're coming from. Success varies. Yeah, this guy isn't on the radio, but look at the following he has on KZbin. Anybody can live this life, dude. You just have to possess the ambition.
@OGdjangofish10 жыл бұрын
Robert M Appreciate your response man. I meant my comment as more of a compliment to this amazing guitarist, but you're certainly right about the ambition thing. TC.

I agree with the comment above. I make my own songs. They're no where near this caliber, but if you are digging what you're doing that's all that matters. Your music should be an expression of you, not just your talents.

+Red Salmon Hey guy! have you a hope? use it! some years ago, i said the same thing "some day i'll play like this". Today, i can play 7 songs of antoine Dufour, 2 songs of Andy Mckee, 1 song of Ewan Dobson and trying to play more! I started it playing "Catching the light", and i still training until today. After you get the first music(in fingerstyle), you learn the next song with same techniques. Tip: be very observant and patient!
