Remy Labbe's arrangement is brilliant! Robin Rombouts & Antoine's performance is fabulous! Thank you!!

Louis Dowdeswell's final note (4:30 - 4:35) is an Oh-My-God great high note. Antoine Colin's high note at (4:21 - 4:24) is also outstanding. Now just record about 12 more really good trumpet-high-note song arrangements and release a new album for us. They don't have to have both Antoine Colin and Louis Dowdeswell in every song, but it would be nice if they did.

This is just beautiful music, such lush playing from the whole band. Just to comment on the high notes at the end. The arrangement begins in concert Eb, modulates to A major, then returns but this time to F major. So Antoine's high note at the end is a concert G, trumpet A, while Louis finishes on a concert C above it, trumpet D, three octaves above piano middle-C. It's the perfect ending. I don't have the impression they are trying to out-do each other, it's just that the music should be good. No doubt they will play the vacuum cleaner in good time. Stephen.

It’s interesting to see the evolution of the trumpet high range. Back in Maynard Ferguson’s day, those notes were essentially gimmicks, show-off flair and not much more. These days though, they are part of your working range. A lot of the big band charts I play have written high Gs all the way up to double D. It’s amazing how I’ve had to adjust my playing style as a lead player just to keep up. I can’t say that it’s not fun though lol.

One should listen to Maynards Give It One, defintely not a gimmick. kzbin.info/www/bejne/p3jXipWNoM2Fi6M

When I was still playing as lead we always used to joke about living above the staff with a "higher, louder, faster" mentality.

In concert pitch it’s a double high C, but the trumpet is in b flat, so on trumpet it is a double D
