😈 I am not a Satanist, but I've studied various thinkers like Ayn Rand, Nietzsche, and Camus that have led me to similar conclusions. I view his philosophy as an effective means of "breaking out" of traditional collectivist views if that is something a person desires, but I don't necessarily find as much value in it as a life-long framework. I agree with Anton more than I disagree, and I think you've done a great job covering the material. Will you be covering any of Anton's other literature as well?

Why? All theistic beliefs are designed to enslave. If it's just for educational purposes that's one thing but approaching it with a mind to add it into your life, understand, you are approaching things as a willing slave which isn't Satanic at all. Quite the opposite.

The overall message I get here is "Do as YOU like" and generally speaking there's nothing wrong with that. Do you have to agree with everything the Satanic Bible says just to call yourself a Satanist? Wouldn't that be lying to yourself? Remember at the end only you can decide what's important to yourself and there's no room for 'should/shouldn't'.

Long time ago, a Satanist (CoS no less) and I (a Christian anarchist) used to hang around a forum largely full of evangelicals and other conservative Christians. On multiple occasions, the conservative would come in with a problem, we'd both give general advice based on our principles (without citing any texts or mentioning our ideologies), and the conservatives would generally get very angry with me while praising the Satanist. Then we'd reveal our affiliations and point to where in our respective Bibles we were getting our ideas from. The Satanist and I thought it was funny, nobody else at the time did.

I find it funny that someone who criticizes people for not being honest about their carnal drives lies about his physical story and sources. I think of Leviathan as Left Hand Path and Behemoth as Right Hand Path. It is important to think of magick amorally-in order to apply it to whatver results, meanings, or devotion that one may apply to it.

I'm a II° member of the Church of Satan and just wanted to say that I really appreciate the thorough discussion and explanation of these major concepts and aspects to Satanism and The Satanic Bible. Too many people discussing the topic often push their own biases into it and often fall into the same talking points that detract from the topic. So, it's refreshing (though not at all surprising) to see you handle the topic well. Well done, Miss! 👍🏻 I do guess that I’ve (unfortunately) underestimated you generally. But it’s a fact that “errare humanum est” . I’m a LaVeyan Satanist and got the Satanic Bible always within reach, as well as all other officially published books that he wrote, including the work of his current successor: Magus Peter H Gilmore. This was an accurate and no-nonsense explanation, merely like ‘it is what it is’ . I applaud for this excellent and comprehensive explanation as I’m assuming that you’re de facto as an outsider of all this.❗️❗️

Why do you dislike it? If you dont mind me asking. I feel like it often is simplistic and a little silly, la vey can be that way i think but nietzsche has more nuance, when it comes to that, he is a person that really can make you think deeper and along totally diffrent lines, which are not leftist at all ( and i am a leftist ) but in a way can make you understand what you do actually belive in a better way

@@mandrakeruth just to be clear i am offended by the ideology and not by you, you seemed at the first comment to be interested in perspectives so i shared mine -- i find social darwinism quite disgusting, obviously that is due to the trauma of existing as someone who needs support in a society that likes to tell us that we don't deserve it. like that's my reason for why it's bad: it shapes a kind of world that i hate. it's hard to communicate tone on the internet, i much prefer communicating irl, but when i said "i hope that explains it?" i was being geunuine, not sarcastic.

@@mordcore alright apologies, its true that its hard to tell the meaning someone has in writing, I assumed that you were being sarcastic,my bad. And I can understand the reaction you have, it makes sense. But to speak of nietzsche again, who is, I think, the most intelligent social darwinist, if we you could even call him that. I think its interesting that he himself had a severe illness through all his life, which caused him much suffering, and was also probably a cause of his death, or at least it contributed to it. You could definitely call it a disability. And the interesting part is, according to himself when he was suffering the worst of his illness his philosophical writings were also the most cruel and the most " the weak shall perish and we shall help them do it" and similar stuff. So one theory is that it was a sort of coping mechanism for him, a way to make his heart stronger by, you could say pretending to be more able than he was. But I don't think it was just pretending, in a real way I think his illness made him a more beautiful and profound person, as he himself thout, it did. So, I guess what do you think about a person who is themselves disabled in some way, but also is a social darwinist?

Also, is it true that one of LaVey's influences was Ayn Rand's philosophy of selfishness? And did LaVey's theories of magick as practical and material-based have an influence on chaos magick? Thanks!

😈👿 I admit that I could be wrong in my assessment. And if that is the case, I am eager to accept any criticism of my views (as a learning experience). My view is that Laveyan Satanism is controversial, but incomplete. Those who criticize Lavey often do so by adducing "insights" that they believe Lavey either purposely left out of his exposition of Satanism, or inadvertently omitted because of inadequate research on his part. But Lavey's works are written (specifically) from the standpoint of Materialism, which automatically deems certain ideas (e.g., about ontology, psychology, Magick, etc.) from "non-Materialist" views, nonsensical. Lavey had good philosophy, and lazy magic rituals. He was good for waking up people, yet, to go further in the dark side, look to modern Luciferians and magic practices.

One thing I've learned from history is that a man by himself is always devided against himself!!! How is it that for all these centuries a man has never agreed on his origin? Why Start a search for an origin that only ends up in disagreements? It's really funny to be humans. But more funny to waver between options when the options already chose themselves!!! I mean if you think that life is about choices then choose others before you choose yourself and by chosing them then you'll have chose yourself because they are men as you are.

🏆🔥 I'm gonna do these emojis, 'cause, as someone who leans more into the Ásynjur, I neither accept nor reject LaVeyan Satanism's precepts. I believe Satanism is a valuable counterbalance to, and subversion of, the Abrahamic religions. I cheer on Satanists over the anti-human, anti-reality worldviews of the mainstream of the Abrahamic religions, but I also realize that Satanism partakes of this tradition. As well, where the hell is Angelo? I thought he was taking over this channel. Couldn't hack it, I guess. 😋 Also, if you haven't yet, listen to Twin Temple!

Anton was a product of his time, his experiences and his location. The CoS was an expressive counter cultural phenomenon that attracted all walks of life. To view the CoS as merely a 'Satanic' and/or 'occult' movement would be inadequate. Anton's influence on Satanism as a philosophy and a reductionist approach to everything cannot be stated adequately. Anton will have a special place for many of us ever more.... AVE ANTON....!

Both a 😈 and a 👿, because like a lot of people here I think there’s merit to these ideas, but they can be vague which typically doesn’t help with countercultural movements in my experience. I think a lot more people were provoked rather than enlightened, and yet, it’s that same level of abstraction that allows it to be meaningful I suppose. The idea of internal salvation as a product of psychological strength seems practical enough to me, although I don’t really feel that that has a direct connection to equality or a lack thereof. I think strength is recognizing that you’re already doing the hardest thing by BEING human. I like Epicurean hedonism. Because feeling like we need more exacerbates the void that keeps us WANTING more, so if pleasure is the absence of pain, then maybe it’s more pleasurable to free oneself from those desires BY recognizing one’s own value. So, with a bit of introspective reasoning, I suppose I MOSTLY agree with Mr. LaVey.😅

That was a rumor, as for him being an atheist, no. Either he is a Satanist as the modern CoS views it, which is atheistic but not the same as atheism, or he was something a little more, which there is some interesting evidence to if one looks closely. Either way he was certainly not Abrahamic, and followed a spiritual path focused on self empowerment and indulgence in what life offers
