You just made it so much clearer in my mind. I was thinking about turning the barrel back in this big move, but still somehow staying connected and not casting. It's not a giant move where your yanking it backwards and staying connected. It's a small move where your just turning it back and getting into a good elbow slot and then into lag.

My son has trouble with steep barrel path to the ball and this video nailed exactly what he is doing. Having the side by side video along with your explanation was priceless. By far the best explanation why barrel path is so important. Thank you so much Anthony.

Concise and clear illustration on how to have a quick and powerful bat swing. Well done with the two videos and instruction.

I think you have identified my issues perfectly. I was really doing the push thing you mention here and in other videos. I think I am ‘arm barring’ my front arm as well. Cant wait to work on it soon!

Great information- inside the ball and short with the bat by the shoulder turn. I just want to mention that the hands don’t stay back as you turning the barrel they are moving inside the ball so the closer the pitch is of your body the more your hands move forward toward the inside of the ball.

early makes easier later. just don't push heavy. ball put between side of shoulder and bat works well makes little easier for the little guys

So the body mechanics is very similar to a boxers uppercut? Also what is the relation to the knob and the ball, is it going straight to it or slicing up?

Hi Matt, I've finally started training/ playing for a baseball team. I'm in my 30s. I just seem to either swing and miss, or if I do make contact I've been told I just kind of flick my wrists. Any tips of how to follow through properly when I swing for the ball?

I like to have the nob of the Bat face the, very inside of home plate turn my wrists and, that makes my forarms extend out.

Matt video idea...do a video about the umpire crisis of youth baseball including several recent assaults. How would you get more people involved in umpiring?

Shohei Ohtani needs to see this video. He currently looks so out of sorts at the plate, he could end up the next Chris Davis. Right now, it looks like he'll strike out 200 + times this season and hit in the low .200's.

For some reason really practicing this makes my right shoulder/delts/triceps hella sore like im just not used to such a narrow range of motion kinda? Or like the phrase "mincing your steps" like when you walk woth a way shorter stride than feels natural too you? This is like the arms equivalent😅 Then again I have long lanky arms and am way better at pitching.

Matt, your swing was compact for the most part as you made it all the way to the bigs..Was your path inconsistent in not being able to stay on the MLB level or was it a matter of patience or just not being given the opportunity to play everyday?

My swing fell apart in 2008 and I could never keep it consistent after that

@@AntonelliBaseball Appreciate your humility. How does a Big Leaguer’s swing fall apart even with a deep knowledge and expertise about the swing. By the way as a former teacher and Coach (Ph.D and Masters in Sport Pedagogy) you do a phenomenal job of breaking down skills and teaching. That’s a whole another level of expertise you possess. Well done! I just wanted to commend you.
