Antonio Salieri: Concerto for flute and oboe in C Major, Aurèle Nicolet (flute), Heinz Holliger (oboe), Bamberg Symphony (Bamberger Symphoniker, a German orchestra based in Bamberg), Peter Maag (conductor):
Allegro Spiritoso - 7:06min
Largo - 7:28min
Allegretto - 5:13min
Antonio Salieri (18 August 1750 - 7 May 1825) was an Italian classical composer, conductor, and teacher. He was born in the Republic of Venice, and spent his adult life and career as a subject of the Habsburg Monarchy. He was a cosmopolitan composer and his music was a powerful influence on contemporary composers. He is popularly remembered as a supposedly bitter rival of Wolfgang Amadeus Mozart.
As the Austrian imperial Kapellmeister from 1788 to 1824, he was responsible for music at the court chapel and attached school. Even as his works dropped from performance he still remained one of the most important and sought-after teachers of his generation, and his influence was felt in every aspect of Vienna's musical life. Franz Liszt, Franz Schubert, and Ludwig van Beethoven were among the most famous of his pupils.
Salieri's music slowly disappeared from the repertoire between 1800 and 1868 and was rarely heard after that period until the revival of his fame in the late 20th century. His music today has regained some modest popularity via recordings.

Not much repertory for this combination of instruments, so my suggestion would be to get out there and play it. It's a fine work.

Siii, Salieri rival de Mozart..... Precioso y elegante concierto, viento y madera, flauta y oboe.

Teacher of Mozarts son, Franz Xaver, of Beethoven, Schubert and C.M. von Weber. He wasn´t a "nobody". That is why his first presentation of an opera in Wienna took standing ovations. The central opera composer, Gluck presented a shy, young Salieris opera as his own. The audience applauded like crazy - and the young Salieri was IN! Not easy to achieve in Wienna, the cultural butter hole in those days.

Whatever Mozart may have thought of him, it is more significant to me that Beethoven revered him, and in turn he was one of Beethoven's staunchest supporters. So let's give him his due rather than knock him as Mozart's rival. A lot of that can be laid at Mozart's feet, as he was not the most tactful when it came to his contemporaries.

@@alger3041 Salieri and Mozart did many things together and Salieri wasn’t jealous because he was far more successful in his lifetime.
