Sublime Abate Vivaldi

It is speculated that the style is similar to that of Johann Adolph Hasse, but it has not been proven to be his. Besides the "Crucifixus" sounds like the beginning of Pergolesi´s Stabat Mater....All in all, despite the doubts, in recent revisions of the Vivaldi Ryom Catalog, the work remains attributed to Vivaldi and not moved to the Appendix. And in fact there are some very Vivaldian traits in the work, in particular, the very brisk and uplifting fourth movement: "Resurrexit". It could perfectly be a late work and judging by the recently discovered RV 807, which sounds like Galuppi, this could be one of such late works or for a patron outside of Italy. Be it as it may be, this is a superb work, full of colors and nuances!

I would say this is a late work of possible Vivaldian origin. It sounds very much like it's a pasticcio of other religious works, Vivaldi was apt do this in his operas, and the fugal movement of his Gloria in D was not his own composition. As for the Crucifixus, the long drawn out suspensions juxtaposed against each other that Pergolesi used to great effect is known as the "Dureazze e Ligature" style and was a well known device of the Roman school of music. Corelli's Op. 6 No. 11, Francesco Feo's Salve Regina, Andrea Luchesi's Kyrie "di Dresda", Pergolesi's Stabat Mater and Salve Regina, and quite a few other works use this device. Nothing new, and Pergolesi did not invent it. This has no stylistic commonality with Galuppi's music so we can discount that, it is also too light to be German and is distinctly Italian, so that rules out Hasse. My money remains on a pasticcio by Vivaldi.

Ibis Sanchez-Serrano; agreed, this seems to be a late work by Vivaldi. After all these years, I don't see this Credo as listed as a work by Hasse. (It is only stated that it might be by him.) - Vivaldi's choral work is pretty extensive and there are some pieces that are definitely by Vivaldi which fit the style of lots of this Credo. If I were to place a bet, this is a late Vivaldi work where most of the composition is his own but (like one of his Glorias) he may have borrowed a movement or two from another unknown composer(s).

Quizás sea un pastiche entre Vivaldi, Hasse, Pergolesi, etc.

Yep further research has shown that this is a composition by Johann Adolph Hasse. Great composition though

Being familiar with the ouvre of both masters, this work sounds much closer to Hasse than Vivaldi. It's unforunate that its seldom performed for its authenticity: shouldn't the music be judged only for its quality?

I've listened to so many Vivaldi compositions this one stood out as soon as I heard it the first time. As he was composing for mainly women the bass parts in this are way too do

It does have some very Vivaldian traits in parts.... but other bits sound like very early classical Neapolitan style.

...way too dominant to be his. Beautiful piece though but not by The Red Priest.
