Hello Dr. Webb, I have been watching your videos for a while, since you were in residency and have finally decided that it is never too late to go back to school. I left my job as an engineer at 35yrs old and am currently in a linked M.S. to MD program where I am currently taking classes with MS1 students. Thank you for another interesting DITL. I enjoy tagging along and seeing all the activities that I used to do. The SAS meetings and etc. were just awesome and a privilege for me to attend. Cadaver labs are very special as well. I aways said a prayer and thank you to the brave person that once was, just spiritual respect. Teaching meetings were great too when I would support the surgeon as they flew thru a system for 4 or 5 doctors at a time. I have a lot of stories, some amusing ones too. Cheers and God bless.

Would you say that your more on the conservative side of surgery or are you more pro surgery in terms of spine surgery. Four years ago I had a multi level cervical disc replacement done, worked fantastic. Last year I had a Laminectomy done on my low back. I have struggled with low back pain for about 20 years. I feel as though I need a spinal fusion to FIX my back. My surgeon constantly wants to try other techniques, IE, injections, physical therapy, I have even had the nerves burnt (I forgot the name of it). I am a contractor so my mentality is to FIX the problem once and be done with it. The Laminectomy however did mostly eliminate the nerve pain in my leg but the back pain still exists. I just can't understand why you wouldn't want to fix it once and be done. It seems like a fusion is a true fix like was done on my neck.

Long story short, I had similar background, military 6 yrs as medic(Also TX!), been college for many yrs, changed major couple times but became RN now. Enrolled in NP program with full scholarship. Hello Dr. Webb. Thanks so much for your educative and motivational videos. I ran into your video while trying to learn about T10 compression which has rendered my 85 year old mother bedridden recently. She has not had any recent fall or trauma. Though, she has a history of Left knee osteoarthritis, she was ambulating and in good health until March this year when she suddenly developed severe bilateral rib, low back, and then waist pain which quickly progressed to bilateral LE paralysis. Unfortunately, she’s in Nigeria where CT and MRI spine were conducted without specific diagnosis. Orthosurgeon recommend conservative management as opposed to surgical intervention. Please I will appreciate your advice and input. I would’ve liked to send the imaging reports for your expertise recommendation. Thanks so much and God bless. Praying for your kind response 🙏🏽
