Tracy performed Fast Car with Luke Combs at the Grammys last night and I thought of Antons awesome reactions. She hardly ever performs live anymore so it was Iconic experience ❤.

She’s a brilliant singer/songwriter. Again another out lesbian when being out was not always welcomed. Much of her music is as relevant today as it was when it was written. Tracy partner is Alice Walker who wrote the book “The Color Purple” and has won a Pulitzer for her writing. So when you’re spending time with another great talent, the possibilities are infinite. She was one of David Letterman’s favorite artists to perform on his show too. Hope you choose to listen to more Tracy Chapman.

Give Me One Reason was one of her big hits. A really beautiful song is At This Point In My Life. Talking About a Revolution is great too, it became an anti-poverty anthem.

This song was totally underrated in America. In Brazil, luckily, it stayed at the top of the charts for several weeks in 1988.

Had the pleasure to see Tracey Chapman live twice at Wembley stadium London. 1st time was Nelson mandala 70th birthday tribute in June 1988. And the 2nd time was again in September 1988 with the Amnesty International concert. also playing was Bruce Springsteen, Peter Gabriel, sting. I was so lucky to so many artists in 2 big concert one year. I've see U2 twice simple minds 4 times and Red Hot Chilli Peppers. My biggest regret not seeing Queen when I had the opportunity in the 80s.

The Promise is BY FAR her best track, it's a genuine thing of beauty. She's Got Her Ticket is the best from THIS album, (her eponimous debut). Also there's Speak the Word, Telling Stories, Open Arms, Subcity, S,oke & Ashes, AllThat You have Is Your Soul, Change and Bang Bang Bang (Song For the Little Man).

Wooow I was today years old when I realized Tracy Chapman is the originator of this song. I always thought this song was a reggae song called Sorry by Foxy Brown 🤯 I like Tracy's version, but me being Jamaican like the reggae version a lil bit better 🤷🏾♀️

This song is her singing to her lesbian lover. I am a long time fan of Tracey and I learned this back in the late 80s. Obviously it can apply to hetero relationships as well but this is a love letter to her girlfriend.

Great reaction again. Ms Chapman is indeed an incredible sing-songwriter and story teller. I have to admit, one of my favorite versions of this song is the duet she did with opera singer Luciano Pavarotti. Here is the link ... not to do a reaction to, but just to enjoy a very wonderful version of this when you have time. kzbin.info/www/bejne/p4LHn59mlK6oiMk

does anyone else hear a little bit of tracy's "baby can i hold you" in alanis morissette's song "flinch" from her album "under rug swept" ? for some reason i can't un-hear it now...a musical kinship between the songs, a distant link between women, a faint hint of one artist in the other, maybe? maybe not? it's possible i'm just really tired...
