From what I've seen and read online recently, this reading rings so true! He seems like he tries to please her and she refuses to be pleased. She's bitter that his career has been what she wanted for herself and it never happened. Antphrodite is right - she's just not likeable because her negativity and bitterness overrides her blessings. She has more than her share of good looks, but that again her attitude overrode what would normally entitle her to be promoted above other more talented but less pretty. The third person involved is a surprisingly rational explanation that makes sense to me. If they both had someone else and then hers broke up but he's still happy with his? That would be something that would make her seek revenge against him all over again for succeeding at happiness where she has failed.

I just watched this today. I think Jada's mother pushed her into this marriage to give Jada security and fortune. I believe she was basically contracted to be Will's beard. His cover. Those are the skeletons you were referring to. She thought she would get more exposure as an actress, but that didn't happen. This makes a lot of sense. Jada had a great acting career. Doing comedies and sitcoms. She was well applauded for her work in drama and horror. However, a lot of her movie choices became niche, she got clout for it back in the day, but the problem with niche is they can only make so much $$ and if they bomb then you kinda fade away and that's what happened to her career. Maybe she thought she'd get back into big budget comedy movies again by being with Will and it didn't happen.
