"Ants" is a marching show that develops the story of an ant colony from the birth of their offspring to the flooding of their homes.
Parts:
The New Generation | The introduction from the mallets plays as the ants' offspring hatch from their eggs, one by one. These hatchlings are to grow and take over the future of the colony.
Life in the Colony | The restless work of the ants fills them with purpose, as the colony grows stronger. The playful writing tosses around our melody to various instruments, encapsulating the lighthearted spirit of the colony.
The Flood | Rain starts to drizzle and soon turns into a storm. The rain begins violently pouring down, prompting chaos in the colony. The ants are flooded from their home as their colony gets crashed in by the waves, and becomes submerged beneath the depths of the waters.
Search for a New Home | The ants are faced with the loss of their beloved work. As the scavenger ants come back with no luck after searching for a new home, the colony grows hopeless of finding any save living conditions. Determination within the colony grows, as they continue to seek for a new home.
Flourish | The ants celebrate their discovery of a new place to live. As the ants develop a bond with the new nest, they begin to construct their home from the ground up. As the show comes to a sentimental close, the next generation of ants hatches from their eggs, ending just as we started.
