Hey @AntsCanada, I wanted to inform that when the larvae reach their final instar (in their silk production stage), you could offer the colony some leaves so you could observe and film them in action. A transfer to a test tube set up can also be done additionally, so that the colony can be in a tight, secured space and makes filming them easier... All the best for your future ant discoveries :) #AntLoveForever #EmeraldEmpire2.0

I personally think it's more of an instinct based reaction than anything else. For such incredibly social animals, it seems benefitical, from an evolutionary standpoint, to to be inherently alturistic. I mean, if ants weren't willing to die for each other, their societies would fall apart. To me, it *seems* that they are "hard-wired," on a genetic level, to "care" bout each other, rather than emotionally caring about each other. Now, I must say that I have not studied the specifics behind ant brains and the chemicals they produce, so I got no proof as to wether or not ant brains produce the chemicals that are nessecary for things like love and emotional bonding, but based on what I've seen, I personally think that their alturistic and protective behavior is a byproduct of them evolving an eusocial lifestyle.

It's funny that I see an ant ad when a while ago I remember actually seeing a queen searching for a place to start digging. Of course I let her go on her way, but it stuck out to me as I don't usually get to see queens outside of this channel.

If you put sap/ant jelly on a cap and had a spare from similar bottles you could feed it to simulate a tree burrow it might be using. Then swap out caps if it doesn't work or starts to spoil.

Curious would weaver ants only build in a live, natural strata(tree) or would they build in an artificial plant

That’s what I was wondering!
@charlesxaqairy709

Most likely, the artificial plant would fail. They use the O2 and moisture from photosynthesis to keep the nest livable.

I feel like the reason the queen didn’t move much those first two week was to conserve energy. At least until the first batch of workers hatched or if she needed to defend the brood

I think it needs sap and food, just seems like naturally in a tree they would have access to that. Might be why they can be so hard to raise in captivity, alot aren't getting fed like most ant species and the first brood and queen could be really weakened.
