Being stationed on Oahu for six years-- lived in Hawaii for a total of eight years-- it still baffles me why I actually *refused* to embrace their culture (the first year I got there). I remember listening to this song on the radio, when it debuted. Went to an outdoor concert with her, Rebel Soljahz, and a few others. Loved this song (would have her hits on repeat); and thought she would blow up (kinda like a Polynesian version of India Arie). Shame that she didn't seem to get much love...from Hawaiians.
