This is a bit different, but for anyone looking for a simple, free off/on switch for water level, try pulling a water level switch from an old washing machine. I used one for controlling a pump on some homebrewing equipment. It works using air pressure. There is usually a 3-level adjustment knob. Just attach the vinyl tubing on the switch to a piece of cpvc. Et voila!

Excellent but just one point someone mentioned Oil tanks in the comments below.... i am familiar with fuel level indicaters and they also use resistance however its an floats height relative to an coil that carries an measurable variable resistance as the floats height changes an resistance is measured this is what is displayed with the level indicator however normally these are double insulated or even totally isolated from the fluid environment...I think the commentator may need to consider this as even the slightest spark or arc could result in fire potential...fuel is highly flammable water is not but regardless this is excellent work thats done here and thanks for sharing i say to the uploader...

For those that wonder about waters conductivity. Most tap water is a fair conductor. Ask anyone that got a shock while standing on a wet floor or soil in their bare feet. The dissolved solids in the water make it more conductive. Distilled water is the least conductive.

Nice idea but you will jam up the frequency so car remotes and just about anything that works on 433mhz will now not work. You need to add a small timer to switch on the transmitter on for 2 or 3 seconds every 10minutes to be legal and not jam up the frequency. Also transmitting continuously will flatten the battery in the TX in a day or 2.

Hi, I am looking for a similar device. With little difference. It should start a buzzer once water level in the tank comes below a certain level. The changes needed would be as follows: 1> Instead of 1 water tank the system should work with 8 separate tanks 2> For all the tanks, the buzzer should go off when the water level reaches dead level - say 15% 3> Each LED corresponding to that tank should start and buzzer for that should go off 4> After the buzzer goes of there should be manual button which can be used to turn it off/reset Can you design something like this? I guess it might need more buzzers, ine for each tank.

This is intermittent level monitoring like ultrasonic detectors installed for certain level's, or level switches for certain levels. While that's a cute project, sadly, unless using silver rods, using wires or rods of aluminum copper will corrode. Silver should be much better, but then, you'd have to find rods of different lengths so that the tops are all out of water in order to attach the wires. That's why, in my Home Humidifier project, I used an infrared proximity sensor. On this project, I used a Nextion display with touch and had a "setup" page where I could adjust the "full" to "empty" numbers if i wanted to easily make changes without recompiling code. This worked very well, however, I did have to write an "averaging" routine due to reflections off the water as it moved when the fan was on. This worked nicely and non actual contact with the water.
@Nazmulsaidi

you are too advanced to talk about in this project. this level 2, you are level 8
@BlondieSL
@BlondieSL Жыл бұрын
@@Nazmulsaidi Huh??? I have no idea what you are asking. I DID "talk about this project." I said that it was cute, which means, it's nice. But then I went into the reality of using wires to detect levels. While that works very well, it won't work for LONG periods of time, like months or years. Most metals will oxidize or corrode. So I talked about how, TO AVOID THAT ISSUE, I use a PROXIMITY SENSOR instead. It doesn't "touch" the water. It sends an IR beam that bounces off of the water and is received by the IR receiving diode. It measures "distance", using a mathematical formula that measures the TIME from SENDING the beam to RECEIVING the beam. The formula knows the number for the speed of sound and light. It uses that to make very accurate calculations of what the distance is. The only issue with some setups, like the one I mentioned, is that the light can bounce around if not protected by some kind of light absorbing material. To get around that IR light bouncing issue, I wrote an algorithm to compensate for this bound as well as to average out the value of the water level. In this case (and perhaps many cases) the water moves a bit, inside the machine, so the level changes slightly. That's why I don't send the RAW numbers as the final output, because it would be bouncing all over the place. I know, because I tried and that's how I figured out the moving water to be the problem. Once I wrote the algorithm, the water level number is stabilized and THAT is the number I present to the system. This number, the water level, is then used to decide if there's enough water in the machine to be able to power on the water pump. If the water level is low, the pump will not be powered on and a message is sent to the Nextion display, letting me know that the water is low. I also included a "setup" page on the display, that I can go into and tweak the WATER HIGH and WATER LOW numbers. I originally wrote those algorithms to make it easier to "adjust" the 2 trigger points, but then, found it to be useful, so it remains on the system. I hope that this now helps you understand my original comment better. Just so you know, there's nothing wrong with commenting on a video. THAT'S WHAT KZbin IS ALL ABOUT! Hope that helps! Cheers

Bro you misunderstood me. I know it's limitations what you mentioned about oxidation, I faced it. So I got rid of it. Just by using tiny float (reed switch based). Anyway what you did is far far advanced bro. This one very basic 🤪😊 It was a sarcasm, forgive my bad English.
@BlondieSL
@BlondieSL Жыл бұрын
@@Nazmulsaidi Ahhh! Ok then. I do love sarcasm. I just didn't realize it was. As for the float thing, I really do like the float thing and in fact, attempted to design on that could work in this humidifier project. Sadly, due to space and design of the tub and top part with fan and my electronics, the float thing didn't work out so well. Honestly, I would have preferred the float, but on a potentiometer rather than a switch. You see, in my case, I need to see, on the Nextion display, the water level in real time. Not just "full" or "empty". I'll admit, I do have a problem. LOL That is, when I start to design something, all these ideas come flooding in... ideas of features and such. Many, probably not 'necessary' for a project, but fun to add features. As for the guy's work in this video, I've seen his projects before and I've commented on just how excellent he is in building circuits without PCBs. Just bending wires here and there and he makes it look so cool and the logic is easy to follow. It's really impressive how he does that. For quick tests, I will somethings just solder components together for a quick test, but never have I been able to get the soldered thing to look anywhere near as good as he does. For clarity, the only real reason I mentioned the corrosion thing in the fist comment, was to perhaps alert those who are less experienced, that they will have this problem and where possible, to use silver rods. That's all. 😅
@Nazmulsaidi

@@BlondieSL Yes. but that warning means nothing. He should have use something more practical. Similarly, I got rid of it now. My father likes manually turn on motor, don't know why 🙃

I doubt it will work on real water tank. Probably work only on bucket of water. Anyway, this is good for learning electronic.

It may or may not work as it requires the liquid to be at least slightly electro-conductive. Not sure gasoline is. But it is safe enough to try.

This is good circuit, but HT12E/12D pair is buggy IC. Their output is erratic when their is power cut. Made this same circuit with some modification 6 years back, used for 4 years. Had problems always, finally dumped it. better not to use this. for newbie it is ok. Better use 7 segment display and mini-floats for best output. avoid RF transmitter-so buggy.
