Loved Anvil cheese n all since 1984. One of the most fun, rockin live shows i've ever seen. Lips got on top of our table in the middle of the room & rocked with that great big grin of his. Out of the hundreds of shows I've been to, one of the best nights ever had. Hands down Metal on Metal & Forged in fire are two of my most beloved albums & Badass rock N roll got my head moving. If you like what your doing keep going guys, my thumb will always be up for you.

I admire their persistence and tenacity. They are doing what they love and not bending the knee to anyone........They made their choice and living it, breathing it and doing what ever they can do to keep working at it. Bravo!!! Cheesy or not its still rock.

I totally agree... Not my absolute favorite band, but they believe in what they are doing and love their fans. If any band have given more than 100% of their energy, rock'n'roll and love for their fans, it must be Anvil and I give 100% love back to them for that. Let that Anvil forever cling with that Metal sound! Metal on Metal is the deal!

@Theenragedone10 жыл бұрын
Rick Blais There is a great reason for it, its called Sharon Osborne. You do realize that she attempted to take control of Randy Rhoads's estate right? Or that in 02 she rerecorded the bass, and drum tracks on Blizzard and Diary, while still billing it as the original recording so she didnt have to pay Lee or Bob? I suggest you dig deeper into it man.

I really hope that all is going well for these guys since the Anvil documentary came out. This is a kick ass new song! It shows that they've still got alot more quality music left to give all of us Metal fans!
@embassyhotel10 жыл бұрын
yes the Anvil documentary really helped Anvil big time man. I have a Canadian website called www.themetalpit.net & I interviewed lead singer/guitarist Steve 'Lips' Kudrow & we had a really great conversation about a lot of stuff with the music industry. He truly believes in his music & doesn't care what the mainstream is all about, he writes music that he wants to write & let's the other things take care of themselves. I don't know if you've seen the documentary but in the movie Lips & drummer Robb Reiner go to a huge record company here in Canada & the guy puts in their recent demo tape & you could immediately tell the guy didn't dig it or even listen to it for that matter to give it an honest listen. He just wants that modern sound or one hit wonder song & the look on Lips face said it all when that guy just put the demo tape in & the guy barely listens to it & shuts it off. But i gotta give Lips credit man, that dude doesn't give up & has a Heart of Gold!! & I'm proud to say their Canadian like myself.

Went and Anvil on a whim in March 2017 in Houston; less than 2 dozen people in attendance so I guess that documentary the band starred in still hasn't brought them a large audience. Despite that they still put on a pretty good live show for the few of us in attendance and I would recommend checking them out live if you are a metal fan at all next time they come to town. Lead vocalist and guitarist Steve "Lips" Kudlow has some pretty good stage raps and a good sense of humor. Good stories about touring with Lemmy from Motorhead.

@manifestgtr7 жыл бұрын
I sort of feel bad for him. He could’ve ripped it up with any of the bands that hit big. The problem seems to be that he’s kind of loopy and got caught up in lips’ perennial mediocrity. Don’t get me wrong, lips is a great riff writer but man....his singing and those lyrics. Fuck me running, those lyrics. Why no one tackled him and dragged him out of the studio when “having fun is our goal” happened is completely beyond me.
@brandenbright4576 жыл бұрын
manifestgtr I agree with you. With the talent Rob has he could've easily became incredibly popular with a different band
@scottgoodson51326 жыл бұрын
This douche “Lips” (stupid fucking name) and his juvenile lyrics is the reason why Rob never made it . I saw the documentary, and it was just sad. These guys are way too old to keep trying to be “rock and roll stars”. When you’re still broke and unsigned after this latest....whatever you call it, maybe it’s time to hang it up, and get real jobs.
@CriticalRoleHighlights5 жыл бұрын
Anvil were always sub-par. The only reason why they temporarily made it in the 80's was because they were first and they were outrageous. Everyone else got inspired by them and released better music so Anvil got completely forgotten by the metal community. I mean, not even their hits were hit quality compared to the other metal bands of the 80's. Also, the fact that they self-published their albums for 20 years with crap quality didn't help either. Rob could've been at the top of the world right now. He could be one of the greatest metal drummers both in skill and stature. If Lips could put his ego aside and have Anvil get a proper metal singer and they actually exercised proper quality control they could be great.

Lemmy of Motorhëad said he's always been a fan of Anvil,Lars Ulrich,Slash. Just because the movie came out & obviously put them on the map FINALLY doesn't mean that musicians all over the world & fans of metal didn't listen to Anvil or appreciate them. Even in the 90's i would see Anvil t-shirts in the crowd & fans & musicians mention Anvil as a favourite of there's.

Although I’ve heard of Anvil, I forgot about them (In medieval times, they would forge Iron Maidens with a steal mallet against an Anvil). Yes, metal group. (Edit) I didn’t notice the artist’s name until after I posted this below. Discovered them on Chordify... heard the opening riff and thought{Great! Finally, some testosterone!} I quit Chordify instantly and watched them on KZbin, only to hear lyrics so bad I thought that they might be making fun of the 70s/80s rock. Video looks really good and they move well. I would love to have a professional lyricist work on this and then re-record it. Singer sounds very, very good (could even be great) he doesn’t sound like anyone I know. He packs such a punch that youngsters won’t know what hit them. A deep, masculine, can still kick your ass even at my age voice. With some help, these guys could really have a hit(s)! Okay, going off the rails here: He could also do some type of metal/rap song that could compete with, and best current rap artists (sorry if that’s not your thing, I do know talent though and not many can sing like that. The production and sound is very good too. Love the Maple Leaf shirt “eh” or “aye”. Bonus, Canadians are like Americans... 40 years ago... polite and respectful, but can still rock with the best from Any country.

Bruv you gotta read their book "Anvil - The Story of Anvil" they are a real life Spinal Tap. They did it tough for like 35 years touring on a shoestring until one of their teens bopper fans grew up to become a movie producer (or director) and made a documentary about them and got them some much deserved fame. The documentary of the same name is cool too, but the book goes into way more detail

Fuckin' awesome!! Superb riff, and i love the production on this. I watched the last third of the 'This Is Anvil' movie as it was shown on tv here in the UK last night (i have the dvd already), and as usual, i got tearful. It moves me, the passion and love that Lips & Robb have for the band and each other. TRUE friends! Such nice, honest, down-to-earth, gentle souls. Lips, in particular, is such a sweetheart. What's not to love! And they really can fuckin' play! The band deserves to be more successful than they are. They are easily as good as a lot of bands who made it 'big' over the years, and even better than a lot of the others(!!) So never stop rockin,' Guys. You love it, we love it... just keep on keepin' on. Anvil fucking rocks... \m/ (:o)

The music business can be cuthroat-no doubt. I am fans of these guys, I am a 51 year old metal fan from San Antonio TX, and I had "Metal On Metal" when I was a kid. A sad fact is that they will probably never see the recognition they deserve, the music industry prefers younger bands it seems. It is all about marketing, and 90% or more of the total people worldwide who buy cd's are under the age of 25. So it is easier for the record companies to sell a band of fresh young faces than it is to sell an album of older men, yeah it sucks, but that is the way it is.
