It felt really good when I saw this. She didn't try to grab views by doing obscene stuff, like so many other youtubers do, just a plain good performance, and what an amazing performance at that. Great voice, and skills. Keep rocking.

@@motherofpearlmusic2015 btw, apart from Beatles covers, why don't you try some from the Stones? I'd really like to see songs like Wild Horses and You Got The Silver covered by you.

The Stones are great and thank you for your suggestions. I usually do not follow suggestions, though, because I don't have the time to do many covers and therefore need to prioritise the songs that are important to me :)

You are such an amazing talent. I have been enjoying your videos with my sixteen year old daughter Ann recently. She's sixteen year old, plays piano and organ, and loves classic rock like The Beatles. Recently, she's really gotten into Roxy Music so your kind of a God send to watch. I'm encouraging to sing and there's something about your style that really encourages her. Please make a CD. (by the way, that's her in my profile at the Paul McCartney show in 2015)

albert quinlan That is great to hear, thank you! I didn't expect to find myself actually inspiring someone. I'm afraid I'm light years away from making a CD, I'm a pure amateur. But thank you for your vote of confidence :) Greetings to your daughter, she's got an excellent taste in music :) And yes, sing sing sing!

Excellent vocal, amazing! Vibrant projection, superb pitch control, grace & beauty. Star vocalist potential--always stick with richly melodic material. The melody is altered at the phrase "how you got this far" in the bridge; first I thought you didn't want to go for the high note, until I heard the goosebump-inducing ending which goes much higher (splendid!). So the melody is altered at that spot. The guitar rhythm is sufficient to carry the song, but to be honest, it's missing something at the core, what I call the "root pulse", which for this song is admittedly not easy. (Personally I logged 91 takes recording a solo cover of this song - 43 on ukulele & 48 on guitar - until I was reasonably satisfied with 2 complete takes sung & played from start to finish in the original tempo, & I've been playing for 48 years...) The rhythm here suffers from simplification which limits the intricate feel of the original, a percolating Latin rhythm. It's a bit 'pieced together' chord by chord & lacks the overall rhythmic flow, steady drive, & compound polyrhythmic feel of the Harrison original. The timing & accents are fine, but there's too much stop-&-start in the rhythm. In order to play this rather busy rhythm fully, it's necessary to develop a steady, fast, balanced, continuous down-&-up rhythm strum, constantly strumming down-up-down-up, then driving the accents in precisely the right strokes while lightening other strokes, according to the type of rhythm being played. Also, in the midst of this rhythmically consistent fast down-up strum, some chord changes may occur on 'off beats', in this case pushed ahead of the beat & changing early. All of this happens rather quickly on the fly, but there is this steady rhythmic strum running through the changes; the playing arm will be seen to rise & fall quickly at a consistent pace (here 8 strokes per 4-beat measure), but not all of the strokes are played equally. Admittedly, this does make it harder to sing at the same time. This also applies to other syncopated rhythms such as funk/hip-hop, reggae, bossa nova, etc. All told, a lovely performance, you sing like an angel.

Very nice cover. Have you ever done Peter, Paul & Mary's "If I had a Hammer" ?
@motherofpearlmusic20157 жыл бұрын
Thank you :) No, I'm afraid I don't know this song.
@greenfieldrecords97947 жыл бұрын
Wow. Okay. It's a folk song originally written by Pete Seeger, but then reworked and made a hit by Peter, Paul & Mary, and becoming somewhat kind of iconic and in a way synonymous with the civil rights movement of the 1960's in America. It has male backing vocals, but I can envision you doing it justice with your style of rich vocal tone.

Strange, I know quite a lot of songs from the 60s. I'm listening to it now. I did a cover of "Where have all the flowers gone" a while ago. kzbin.info/www/bejne/moGzaZena6ZrbZY
