i actually really like the color of the veil! if it were the same color as the dress i feel like it would have blended in too much, but the lighter color really makes the veil pop and accentuates the lighter details at the bottom of the dress.

I feel like it’s hard to judge about the veil color unless we see a full body photo. The white veil might look really great and tie the outfit together when we see the full effect. I feel like if the veil was also taupe, she would look too Miss Havisham, and the white veil could look more fresh, but like I said, I feel like I can’t really judge until I see her full outfit.

I think the veil being a little darker would be good but it should have also been even leas opaque then. Like have it be a wider soft tule so it’s barely thee when you see it.

We need more people to adopt this philosophy!!! Anya is a great example, but another one is Florence Pugh. I’m so tired of people saying Florence Pugh’s red carpet looks are bad just because she’s not trying to look as tall and slender as possible all the time. She’s not afraid of emphasizing her short and somewhat solid frame, and I think she carries it off beautifully and is obviously super confident.

As someone who has never seen a hummingbird in real life I love that there's one on her wedding dress. It's a beautiful gown. And she looks beautiful and elegant. Also I like that her wedding was private. Not everyone has 600-1,000 personal family and friends to invite to their wedding. And not everyone wants to walk down the aisle in front of 600-1,000 family and friends that you don't personally know, that haven't really been there for you or aren't actually a part of your daily life. Some people, not everyone, like private and intimate celebrations. I think a wedding should be about the two people who are planning to spend their lives together and who are saying their vows in front of one another and those close to them. Also life is too short to not wear clothes that you love and enjoy being in. The clothes in your closet should make you smile and represent your personality.

Lighting also plays a huge role sometimes so i do believe there's a 10% chance the veil might be pale blue...especially after seeing dresses online that are sold as being "lilac" and they're delivered to be a baby blue....or fuchsia pink shows up as red in other pics. Grey nails also show up as blue in different lighting idk...

I looooove her look and I love that her dress had interesting details and wasn’t the typical type of wedding dress. I’m getting married this year and I’m wearing my mil’s dress. I couldn’t find any other dress that I felt like I couldn’t live without, other than dresses way out of my price range. I think the tricky part is I wanted to wear something that’s not super bridal. I never have a need to wear a gown so I wanted to really pick a gown I would love. But at the same time, I will only get married once (I hope?? lol) so it felt like I should wear a traditional white dress. If I had the money, I would have gotten the starlet Paulo Sebastian gown. I just got so tired of every shop only having the same like 3 types of dresses in all price ranges.

I've never been considered conventionally attractive (at least in my lifetime), so I've always chalked it up to confidence. Not necessarily self-confidence all of the time, but more in the sense of, "I chose this color. I like this color."

Yeaaaaaahhhh I see what you mean, but we can’t all be perfectly healthy-looking (clear skin, beautiful muscle tone, etc.) which “allows” you to sort of break the rules like Anya Taylor joy… because she’s gonna look good no matter what. I think what a lot of people are asking when they ask for “flattering” cuts or “flattering” color, is something that will diminish their blemishes and even out the skin tone, perhaps flatten out a belly after giving birth. None of those things make you “ugly” but people also want to have the option, want to know what will help diminish those appearances so that what they feel is their true selves can shine through. 🤷♀️

Hahaha. I love that little bit at the end. It’s so true. She has a genuinely interesting and fun sense of style but she’s not too stiff about it. Like she might be styled to the gods one day and then we’re a totally “out of style” looks from five years ago the next but she makes it work for her. Genuine class and down to earth grit. Few celebrities have that now. Everything come off so canned and contrived.

i like the white veil better instead of matching it, like i get what the designer and anya was going for. non-traditional color of the dress but traditional form of dress, and the white veil? it puts emphasis _THIS_ is a bride. Like even if I was driving by and saw a glimpse of Anya, I'd think "oh a bride" and if I was walking by, I would *definitely* go for a 2nd, 3rd, or 5th look

I believe in striving for the effect you're trying to create, not following rules just because. I think her style in general is rather edgy, and she's just wearing pale colors / white to achieve what others wear black and alt styles for. But because of color theory, she needs different tools to create that same effect. Knowing your season is still useful if you are to understand how to achieve the desired vibe you're going for

Thank you! Everytime I think we’re getting better at learning not to overly judge ourselves- a new identity crisis system emerges based in science. The kibble system or season colors and yet many times, they can look good in spite of following all these rules. I learned my colors but I wear what makes me happy and comfortable because obsessing over what everyone else thinks is never gonna make ya happy. Not to mention some of these systems are so complex and specific.. such a nightmare. I know they can help many people but I think giving up anything you like for the sake of these systems can be a killjoy

For the last decade I’ve kept my hair short, didn’t cut it for a year due to fatigue, and have it short again. Honestly I love my blunt bob and really like my hair at about earlobe length. Hate how it looked long. Also my disability made it clear that long, wavy/curly hair was not maintainable. So glad I’ve thrown the rules out.

Traditions are overrated and regional anyways, so it's fine to ignore them. Wedding dresses used to be very colorful (the best dress in a woman's wardrobe) and still are in a good portion of the world. The all white thing was a pretty recent aesthetic development (roughly 200 years) so who no idea where the drama is coming from. If she felt good in it, had fun and all then that was her dress. End of discussion.

Not a fan of the dress from what I can see of it. Looks a bit like it was made from a sack but a refined sack. The style of the top part combined with the material gives off a sundress vibe which clashes with the veil. But honestly I probably have it wrong given we really can’t see the whole thing
