Great review! It looks like a good printer, but hopefully Sovol is working on one and will release one soon. I really like Sovol's open source philosophy and am hoping they bring that to their multi-colour printer when they eventually release one.

When I heard ACE the first time I was so optimistic :)

One of the best review of this printer I have seen! My son is started to be interested in 3D printing, I may have some help with 3D printing later like you have your nephews :). You almost sold it to me but I am still a little afraid of that many negative user reviews. Maybe SV07 would be better choice for me with some additional settings like Z height. My old artillery is slowely dying..

I love my SV07+, that's an amazing printer, but I have to say, my nephews, though always excited to craft together with these printers and laser-cutters, they've never been more excited than getting our first multi-color! Yes it can be wasteful, but there are good techniques to optimize, and with the same overhead we print 3-4 copies of everything so they can share with brothers-sisters and classmates. Which makes the experience even nicer. I am very new to Anycubic, I already discovered some ways to improve bed adhesion since this last video, and have seen issues discussed in various AnyCubic forums. To tell the truth they don't feel more overwhelming than negative voices in Sovol groups. Negativity bias is a fact. Maybe keep an eye on my channel, I promise to post recurring updates as these printers age. For my own interest I love functional big prints, but again, for kids, multi-color printing is just next level of fun!

The filament change system is very reminiscent of the ICS on the new FlashForge AD5X.

Tool changer solutions are more flexible as the nozzle diameter can also be changed.

Waiting for the sovol multicolor. When?

I am sure they are working on something, but they'd have to offer something over the competition to stand out. Of course, just applying their open source commitment would be enough added value for most of us!

I'd like a Sovol implementation of the multi-head open source projects for the Voron 2.4 and Sovol SV08, as a commercial add-on to the SV08. I prefer the multiple print head solution because there's little or no poop (maybe a color change tower or use the infill for the filament change, but also because independent print heads change filaments faster and support printing different materials at different temperatures. I don't need multi-color for my functional prints but I'd love to be able to print PETG and TPU on the same part, and maybe print PLA support under a PETG part. It should be possible to sell additional print heads for the SV08 individually, so we could add a second print head, or up to six more print heads. I think selling additional print head upgrades for the SV08 would be a good strategy for Sovol, to leverage commercialized open source development while also differentiating their product from all of the other pooping filament swapping single print head systems, with only the Pru$a XL as competition in the multi print head market space. I'd love to add one or two print heads to my SV08.

@Liberty4Ever definitely sounds good. But how are sales for the sv08 doing? Seems like it isn't popular anymore. The sv06 ace looks a lot like the kobra 3, maybe they can get their multicolor working on the sovol. Open source is a must. I'm surprised no one created a multi tool head for the sv08 yet. I'm waiting for a large format multicolor, the kobra3 max is about to be released. Id rather go multi toolhead on a a voron clone though.

@@Liberty4Ever I think (hope?) Sovol is keeping an eye on Teaching Tech's project. I know they are working with him, and if successful I wish they'd turn it into an official upgrade in collaboration with Michael

@@oneanother1 I was so hoping to see a filament cutter in the toolhead of the SV06ACE or at least a purge tray. These would have been precursors for a multi color addon. Maybe they'll include thes in the SV06ACE-Plus, which would indeed make more sense to compete with the Kobra3 Max.

Sovol should atleast make a toolhead with a cutter... so i can use my ercf on it 🤔

I am surprised no such mod is available. It would be an interesting project to design one.

Another bad copy of Bambu.

Being more open could be the only saving grace for these remakes, but Anycubic dropped the ball even on that :( Still, it's not a bad printer, with some extra features over the A1 like the enclosed, heated AMS unit, but not much else. Now the Kobra 3 MAX is another story!
