Thanks for the vid..ive been fishin the ca aquadact for over 20 years for cats..i fish off the bridge drop cast at the boueys weight on the bottom #2 hook wrapped chicken liver 18 inches up..this keeps the bait out of the weeds at the bottom and right in the fishes face..ive pulled monster fish over the years out of the aquaduct..always bring 20 to 30lb test no less

When a fish is pulling drag while you reel; it causes your line to twist resulting in your line getting wound tight causing more tention and evintually causing your line to pop. Sounded like a great fish tho. Great video.

Fun video to watch, hey brother in the case you may know already, I would recommend fishing 50lb braid to a fluorocarbon leader that’s 25lb. Or you can run a 30lb mono leader with braid as your main line. I find that the braid is more sensitive and you can have a full spool cause it’s smaller diameter.

Also I fish the aqueduct in kern County for 40 years now and most fisherman that say they got popped of is bullshit they did not tie a granny knot on the end of there line and your knot pulled thru good luck next time but I fish from I 5 all the way to Buttonwillow and land 40 pounders on 10 pound test line because I tie a granny knot on the end of each knot I make

i would thread the worm on the leader line above the hook and use a bait button on the bend of the hook. any add-ons like a shad, chicken liver, or anchovy i would use magic thread like what you did there.

The aquaduct has some big sturgeon in it as well. They will bit on anchovies too but will spool you or cut your line when it rubs on their armor. Maybe that's what you hooked into.

You won't be disappointed. To be honest I perfer chicken liver before anchovies and night crawlers on strippers. One thing about liver is it's great on strippers at the crack of dawn until sunset because once night sets you'll start catching catfish.

when bait gets too soft lay them out in the sun . the sun will make stiff ( crispy ) flip it over do the other side . it will harden up then you can hook them and it will stay on hook . just cast gently

I fish here with a ultra light rod and reel. 2500 shimano Stradic and 7,7 Phenix feather. The fight is better on an ultra light setup. The aquaduct got drained this month. There’s an algae boom as welll. Not good for fishing, even the dogs won’t drink the water

On the big fish.. your drag was way too loose and u were reeling with it..that causes line twist..seems like it took u into the pillars and ur line must of rubbed against it I had many stripers do that with me before..

xiongstaboi87 It was tight at first and I felt the power of this fish when I Set The Hook, which was twice as big as the other Big Striped Bass That I Just Landed a month before I Released This Video, so I let the drag loose so I can let it run a little, but instead it ran for its life, everything happened real quick and it got out of control fast, it definitely took me off guard, but truthfully if I would of not loosened the Drag he would’ve of broke me off. He was a Monster, I understand the Not Reeling in When it’s taking Drag, this the only time that I’ve done this, Also I tightened up the drag one last time to try to get control and that’s when it snapped, that’s why I Put Out This Video, To Help People And so They can Learn from my mistake. So they are Ready/Prepared To Land Monsters in the California Aqueduct! Thanks for watching 👊🏼
