Yes, fill it up with water and soap and just leave it in the bath tub or shower to soak (so it’s not in the way in your kitchen), and then use the shower to rinse. I find using the bath tub for cleaning this sort of thing handy as when you try and do it in the sink the water goes everywhere 🤷🏻‍♀️

A great tip that I try and follow is when determining a home for something is ask yourself "Where would I look for that item first?" Sometimes I'll have two homes because it makes sense to keep a small supply of something in two areas of the house but this tip has saved me from having to search all over the house. I got this tip from Dana K White, a fellow KZbinr and author. Love your videos!

I live with just my husband (who I love and adore, but we don't have anyone else living in our home with us), but frequently need to clean out the stuff. On Monday, we went through a full sized dishpan of your boo-boo supplies and found wrist braces from my daughter's high school years (she is 42), ace bandages with zero remaining elasticity and rusted metal clamps, adhesive tape that could not be unstuck, and five glass thermometers! In less than 5 minutes that dish pan was gone and I now have a well curated and organized manicure section in my linen closet! Keep on keeping on, Dear One...we all need inspiration!

Extra room on those top three shelves for often used items to be left out loose. Close the doors don't have to see it and keeps any dust off & cleaner.

I got a flip top plastic shoebox for my first aid supplies and put a huge label on it. It’s place is in the hall closet, which makes for an easy grab when needed. For my regular meds, they gone into a basket drawer attached underneath a wooden top kitchen cart that is being used as a bedside stand. This makes it easier for me to remember that I’ve got to take my meds in the morning, for they’re at eye level. Now I’m going to try to make a laundry station, giving dirty clothes one spot to be at, instead of being scattered around in different baskets in two rooms.

@@wanderlust9372 Whether pharmacies will take them or not depends on where you are - both where I grew up and where I live now, you can take expired meds to the pharmacy anytime during business hours and they will dispose of them appropriately. There are also drop boxes (locked and inside buildings, so they're secure enough to keep anyone without the right key from getting into them) in certain places around where I live (the one I know of is in our local hospital just inside the front door, so always accessible to anyone who needs to use it but still under 24/7 surveillance), so that we don't even have to go to the pharmacy if we don't want to/can't (like if it's closed).

As for medical supplies/meds I keep a list of items on the outside of the container. When I run low, I re-supply. I think it’s easy to over supply medical supplies. For me, it helps to keep a minimal amount of medical supplies. Otherwise my bin gets chaotic.

My advise would be using bins with lids for medication. That way dust, moisture etc. is kept out. I have three bins: one for salves, one for pills and one for the rest. About once a year I check for expired stuff but I'm quite relaxed about it and mostly just throw away already opened stuff. Oh, and opened medicine bottles and such could be put into ziplock bags. That way if they do spill, the grossness stays in the bag and can neatly get disposed of.

But you didnt replace the bin so i guess thats good. 3 consider keeping unopened meds in a spot in your hallway pantry, and shop from there. 4 expiry date are extremely important for some meds. i know from personal experience that athsma reliever ventolin/salbutomol/asmol is next to ueless days into the month after expiry, and 3 weeks out does nothing at all. 5 consider if you need duplicates for car/purse/downstairs /bug out bag. Endure rotation. 6 another drawing agent is sugar soap bandaid. Mix sugar and soap into a paste. Liquid soap would be too wet i think. Soft part of bar soap plus few drops of water is best. Mix in teaspoon.

If there's such a thing as an upside to the pandemic it's that I haven't had a cold in all that time and therefore, no asthma flares.

A thought occurred to me today! We would probably all find our way around someone else's kitchen, without major problems ... as long as the kitchen owner, is also part of our "organizational family". We all organize our home to be practical and efficient ... at least that's what I assume. So we should be able to find certain things pretty quickly ... right ?! Like placing spices and the cooking utensils near the stove. What do you think?

This may be a bit persnickity but how about finding a list of all the things then add a column "home" and indicate the location? It will help others find things. It will help you decide if you need or don't need something. It will help you keep track of where you rehomed things after that basement sort. It will help with reducing since it makes things less personal --- just an item on a list --- so you can make commitment to remove it. It gives a quick way to make list of things you want to sell or give away...put it in Excel and add a date column. Review that list quarterly. Now you're not walking from room to room without a plan but seeking targeted items you want to remove. Yeah data entry update will be a project, but eventually it will be routine task like setting up a planner. Definitely will help with next move.

I would have soaked that big in not soapy water and it probably would have cleaned up great.

You can just add soap and water to the bin and let it sit for a bit to loosen the spill. Should wipe out easily

Be sure you split the supplies for All upcoming ng camper trips. Done in advance so you may address expired supplies. There are latex free bandaids you might be able to consider for your daughter. You might just find it necessary to get another splinter kit for the rv.

I have bandaids/bandages, ace bandages, gauze, fabric tape... in one container. I keep ointments/salves in another. And I keep aspirin, Tylenol, ibuprofen, cold meds, cough syrup and tablets/capsules in another.

Thats why I buy bins at the dollar tree, if they get dirty I don't feel bad tossing a 1 dollar bin.

I definitely think you can wash the bin . Soak it in hot water or throw it in the dishwasher.

Thank you, thank you, for not getting rid of perfectly good medicine. Medicine shortages do occur. Medical red tape occurs. Despite my sometimes ridiculed attempts to keep my mother well stocked during this past year, there were a couple of close calls. Medical people often said, "oh you don't need that many in reserve" and "there won't be any problem refilling these so don't worry." But then "oh, that doctor isn't here and it will take time to give permission for more prescriptions," while we are counting the number of puffs or pills she has left. I shall go take calming somewhat weepy breaths.

Check out Nexcare “water proof” bandaids. They have clear tegaderm covering/tape instead of the glue like tapes on bandaids. I also have reaction to all adhesive tapes and the nexcare works brilliantly with no reaction. I also buy the larger tegaderm rectangle covers in the event of a larger cut I can use a gauze pad and a cover. Skip the tape. You’ll love the tegaderm or nexcare bandages and daughter’s skin will love them as well! Side note - get a vitamin d3 deficiency blood test. I used to have asthma and had to use inhaler frequently. Once I started on d3 vitamins (because I was so low it didn’t even register on the test) most all of my lung issues went away. There is a ton of research linking the role of vitamin D3 and instances of colds, lung issues, and asthma! Hope her foot is better! Tfs!

Tegaderm can cause allergies too. I know from personal experience. Silicone tape and bandages work best for me.

The sticky is just sugar. A little liquid and should clean right up except possibly a red stain from the dye. Organizing and decluttering is not a one time event. You have to constantly review and update to find what works for you and maintain it. The good news is once you get a system in place and the majority of decluttering done, its only small amounts of time.

Hi Erica. Love your channel. Thank you for honestly sharing your life with us. Don't mind the haters about the bin you decided to toss. It is your decision! If you ever have a situation where you dont have the black salve again, you can just use grated potato. Works fabulously. And since you have been becoming more earth conscious, maybe you can experiment with veganism. Maybe for a week or two and see how your and your daughter's asthma improves. Maybe search some KZbin videos on the topic. The asthma meds and equipment seems to take up a lot of space and mental capacity. Maybe you can reduce it and it by trying vegan and of course it is great for the environment. But I know it can seem like a big step. Anyhow. Keep up the great work and I am so sorry for the unkind words some so freely share 😕
