A very thorough explanation of the Setting tab. Thank you. It does seem (in V7.01.9) that the alert part of the menu has disappeared. The alert on curve too tight is permanently on (not a bad thing) but the alert on flex too long is also useful despite your saying you don't use it. It is handy when using the File > Info > List of materials to know that if you are ordering track, you are ordering enough.

Brian, sorry I haven't answered before this. I haven't used AnyRail for a bit now. I may not be running that version. I'll try and check that soon. Dave

I can tell that you are a cad user. I'm a retired Engineering Technician and I to am a cad user and still do work with AutoCad. I have to say that you have done an excellent job of explaining AnyRail. You take your time to explain things in a logical order. Any one viewing this video that has no cad experience will have no problem learning this program from your videos. Good job. I'm looking forward to viewing the remaining videos. Also, how do I get to video 3B? Keep up the excellent job.

Hi Harry, Yeah, I have used CAD since 1996 or so. I use FastCAD from Evolution Computing. I have taken courses way back when in Auto CAD Ver 14 but I introduced EasyCAD and then FastCAD to our engineering shop and we just liked it better. We used it for all of electronic design, both schematics and for fabrication. I also used it to design transmitter sites and studios. CAD is great fun. Ah yes, the infamous Video 3B. When I made that video I was going to make a 3B but I covered most of what would have been in 3B in Video 3. I really should edit that video or put something in the description. Glad you like the videos. Dave

To explain the 'Angle' in the Tolerances group on the SETTINGS tab: Sometimes, you need to make imperfect connections. Especially when you don't use flex track, but rigid sectional track, it doesn't always fit precisely. To make it fit in reality, you will need to use the play (or wiggle room) in the track connections. In most cases, you won't even notice that you're forcing the track a little bit. In AnyRail, this can be simulated when you switch off 'Autoconnect'. As shown in the video, with 'Autoconnect' switched off, you can make a connection with a slight gap. The maximum allowed gap size is represented by the 'Distance' field of the Tolerances. However, there could not only be a distance, but also a slight angle between the two connecting parts. The 'Angle' in the Tolerances group represents the maximum angle you want to allow.

David, thanks for explaining angle. This is one of those cases where I probably should have given more thought to what I was doing before rushing into the video. In my sectional track video I mention to just use the wiggle room in sectional track and I knew there was a way to get the program to "cheat" that but I just didn't follow up on playing around with it to find out how to do it. Hi, yeah, I am working on two now about doing basic scenery elements for your drawing. Hopefully in about two weeks I will get them posted. By the way, that line about slower than your first marriage, was stolen from the late, great, Ron Lyons who did traffic on KCBS for many, many, years. He liked to use that when talking about traffic backups on Bay Area freeways. Ron was a kick to work with. Dave

I believe that Angle in the Tolerance group is how many degrees off of the same center axis the joining piece is from the existing piece. Too large a setting could cause attachment to another piece close by. Just thinking out loud from common sence.

Michael, There is no 3B. When I recorded that video I thought there would be but I discovered that I covered most of what would be in 3B in Video 3 and in another video. I should change the title card to reflect that. Dave

can AnyRail be use make module of layout?
@steampoweredradio2981
@steampoweredradio2981 2 жыл бұрын
Hi Ray. Are you asking if AnyRail can be used to design modules to be combined into a larger layout? If so, I don't see any reason why not. But, Anyrail does not allow you to design benchwork using lines and then have the benchwork display in the 3D mode. Also, you would have to construct each piece of wood out of lines. Time consuming. This is an interesting idea and I will look into module creation in Anyrail after I post my next couple of videos. Dave

Bob, No. I will probably do some more on the Snap to Grid, etc, but Video 3 probably describes it well enough. I should edit any mention of 3B out.

Hi, if you are talking about the major and minor grid lines, I think it may have to do with your video card, monitor resolution and the zoom level you have. This is only a guess as I only have the one computer to test it on. Dave
