Judges Eric Cheek (98-92) and Patricia Morse Jarman (96-94) favored Aleem's relentless aggression, effective body work, and occasional head shots against a taller opponent who unexpectedly adopted a defensive strategy for most of the bout. Judge Max De Luca scored the contest as a draw, 95-95. Despite the challenge, Aleem (19-0, 12 KOs) maintains his position as the WBA's number one contender for the "super" champion, Murodjon Akhmadaliev.
Aleem's victory over Baez follows his impressive performance against Vic Pasillas, where he dropped Pasillas four times for an 11th-round stoppage on January 23 at Mohegan Sun Arena. This win also put an end to Baez's nine-fight winning streak. Baez (20-2-2, 7 KOs) suffered only his second professional loss.
While Aleem appeared fatigued in the final round, he showcased resilience, even going to the canvas in the closing minutes after a push by Baez. Despite this, Aleem managed to rock Baez with well-timed right hands in the later rounds, contributing to his victory by majority decision.

Aleem got outclassed he missed a lot slapped his hooks but caught Baez with off balance shots that's the only good he got off the body shots favored Baez walking Aleem down he was wobbly lost his feet twice that wasn't push or pull dude was eating rights short lefts hooks uppercuts body shots he was working his feet till mid rounds the sting in his punches you could see he was pushing 1_ 2s like he was dinged up and there's no doubt he got whooped but stood up throughout the bout 2 more championship rounds it's curtains. Straight up.
