Just a little comment to help us dummies to follow. Unless I missed it, it would help to state the purpose of the procedure prior to executing. It may just be me, but I was having trouble comprehending what you were doing until you stated the purpose at the end. Fantastic! Was in two minds about getting this radio as wanted this kind of function so much on my old TYT MD380. Dig Mon works a treat on my new Anytone 878 and can now hear LOTS of digital traffic! A very cheap way to get a DMR scanner (all be it a little slow on the scanning)

Yes it's pretty handy if you already own one. And when you know all the details colour code talkgroup etc. You can program them into your other radios and listen on there

Just wanted to add that you can listen to a frequency you found using Digital Monitoring and saved by simply noting the Color Code and time slot and adding them to the saved frequency channel that was saved. I was frustrated trying to get this mode to work. Turns out that my radio and software defaulted to commercial mode. I had to switch the radio to amateur mode to get digital monitor option to appear.

So if I understand I key up with my hotspot for 310 and yet I can have my radio sitting on say 91, but will hear 310 when there is traffic. But, will I also hear traffic from Tac 91 also? I thought the only way you can hear a tac channel is to key on it and make it active. KB3Z

Nice and calm video. 2 questions: 1. How do I make it so that, let's say, VFO A is the only one I can get a signal from. This is an example... I have VFO A and B. Selected A. Signal still comes in on B. To disable this frustrating thing, I have to activate sub channel hide. There's gotta be another way.... 2. How do you get signals in the UK, all the way from the US...?? My radio: 878+

In settings/radio set you can turn off the bottom line with subchannel Hide. Using DMR with a hotspot or a repeater you can talk worldwide it goes over the internet as well as radio. Thanks for watching

Do you have a video about doing something similar with turning all DMR filters off on OpenGD77 (rt3s)? I have hesitation about if I shall enable C scan On or Off. So far I’ve never heard any DMR despite tuning onto several repeaters (southwest of france here) and/or scanning with setting start and stop frequencies.. Thanks!

Hi mate. first of all this is an old video and the software may have changed slightly. Secondly, these radios have ham radio Mode as well as business mode. If you are in business mode, you will not see all these menus.. Connect the radio to the computer read from the radio. and go to optional settings on pc software and check you are not in business mode.

That’s awesome. I have a new 878. When I change from ch to ch on my hot spot the TAlk groups are sometimes one channel off and I see the last channel when I transmit. Any idea what is going on. KS4QF.

I use it to listen to security. You do not need a hotspot . You are just determining which transmissions come through the audio.

Yes pretty much. In my demo I reset the radio to show that you did not have to program it. You set the digital monitor settings to any. And you will hear DMR transmissions either amateur or security etc. it all depends what is being transmitted in your area of course. Good luck

So I have added some digital channels that are in my local area, no hotspot, using the vfo to search and then save with #, but when I go to transmit it says tx freq error, any ideas on what I'm doing wrong ? I can hear them perfectly

It means you cannot transmit and it will be for one of two reasons. You are transmitting out of ham bands. This could be because your offset is higher or not set right. It could also be because there is a feature called transmit Prohibit And if you have a diss set you cannot transmit

Hi Ian. This was just the screen background. Like a wallpaper. You can find it in the folder called screens when you download the firmware update.

Chris I had a short problem and wondered if you ever came across it before? I have a 868uv and i like it, i have been setting it up for DMR but i am having a prob.I have added a Jumbo hotspot for the house got it going ok, I added more repeaters (dmr) and everything was good, but now I go to get on dmr and when I hit the PTT button it keeps telling me access denied on every channel. I have heard similar voice messages telling me user blocked. This message meant that I had to wait 1 hour as I had been keying up too much probably testing stuff. Another was talkgroup blocked which was technical problems at the talkgroup and not my end.

I must be missing something. I have the Btech 6x2, which is the same as the 878. It has the Digital monitor function and it works on the local repeater. But when using it on my hotspot (Jumbospot), it only lets me hear one Talkgroup. And that is the one I have activated at the time. I can dial in other talkroups and it does hear the TG that I have activated, but I can't hear any of the others. You can't activate more than one TG can you? Can someone lease help me understand.

You have got it working correctly. When enabled you hear the talk group that your hotspot is connected to.

Hi Chad the radio has no speech. Several blind friends of mine recommended the radiodity gd77s. Digital monitor is is very confusing for most people. I would not bother with digital monitor. Unless of course you want to receive security and other digital stuff. Thanks for your interest

Yes you do need to see the screen. It is complicated. You could be listening to one tg. And transmitting on another. This really is an extra layer of complications. I wouldn't bother. Just do simple.

Jordan James I would imagine it’s breaking up because the signal is not strong enough it either works or it doesn’t. There are no additional settings. Move closer to the station or try a different aerial or location
