Firs look at my Anytone AT-6666 Pro radio. I will show how to convert the radio to receive 15 meters as well as the procedure to access 11 and 12 meters. I also go through all of the frequencies it receives as well as the SWR readings for the various bands using the Solarcon A-99 antenna.

I'm just going to write this. I had a lot of radios like this. And this one is the best so far. Even the reception is excellent. Excellent sensitivity and selectivity. I don't know what kind of filters there are in it, but I am very pleasantly surprised. And even when I add 70-90W output power, it's perfect.

Great Video. Good for you working 10-meters! I am purchasing this radio. I do Dxing and use a Xeigu G90 (I have a 100 watt vintage Ten Tec Corsair but love the G90). My longest contact was 10,000 miles on the 10-meter band. The G90 is 20 watts. I wanted something with a a bit more power because I sometimes come across a hard to get country but lack enough power to bust the pile-up. You've chosen wisely with this rig. I read through the instruction manual and this radio has a lot of features. The biggest trick to making contacts on HF is the art of listening. While there are times I will jump right in - if it's a difficult to get contact - I first listen, get the callsign written down and then listen to how the contact asks for station replies and how the often large number of contacts responds. Often everyone talks at once, so more watts wins the race. Sometimes, there is a short silence and then a bunch of Hams talking at once. I try to give my callsign during those moments of silence. With 20 watts, I have beaten guys running a kilowatt to the contact. Enjoy HF, it's really fun and addictive...73...Hugh...KN6KNB

I 'm really enjoying this radio. I'm like you that I usually listen to try and get a call sign before I make contact. I usually record the call sign in when I'm having trouble understanding the contact. It's getting easier as I make more contacts. Thanks for watching, 73s!

I bought this radio not just for the excellent reviews, but also because I can peak & tune it myself, without even having to remove covers. 👍🏻

I want to get this radio for pota operations and 11 meter. Ive seen a ton of videos and this radio pics up so many stations with a good antenna setup. I may even replace my base station with it.

I wish I had your reception. I can't hear the stations you are hearing. I have had good luck with East Coast stations. May need to adjust my counterpoise. May add a couple of longer runs running East to help with western stations over the Pacific?

just a general question in which you probably don't know the answer to is- it says it has PA in the Menu but doesn't have a PA Speaker Jack at the rear of Radio, why?

I had one about a week, and while sitting turned on, not transmitting, and no antenna connected, I smelled something strange ! As the smell grew stronger, I seen a whisp of smoke coming out of the Quad 6 Pro ! Killed the power, but didn't save the radio, but fortunately kept the house from burning down ! Too close for comfort ! Caveat emptor ! Do not leave them unattended and turned on or connected to power ! Just to be safe ! Have no idea why this happened ! Positive lead at the circuit board was burnt ? Like some kind of thermal runaway ? Crazy scary !

That's scary, I glad you caught it before a fire could erupt. I'm always paranoid about fires, probably because I have a lot of old radios. I always turn my radios off when I'm not around and turn off the power supplies at night. I hope they sent you a new radio, take care.

@@RidgeHikerAdventures Yes ! I was very fortunate to be sitting in front of it ! I couldn't move fast enough ! It's certainly something that takes your mind a few seconds to process ! As you never expect that out of something literally days old ! And on top of that, I had purchased another one to put in my mobile ! I have been bragging about how great they are ! They are just way above the old style 10 meter rigs of old ! I will be trying to contact Anytone, and see what they say ? But I had texted them about something else unrelated, and have not heard back ? So I'm not sure what to think ? I hated to post what happened, but it was just too crazy dangerous not too ! As I said, it was just turned on in receive mode, not connected to an antenna ! And hadn't been transmitting since hours before ! It will definitely get the adrenaline flowing ! I was in total freak out mode, as if you know what something electrical burning smells like, ( as most Hams do ?), You know you have to identify the source immediately ! I don't think I really processed the incident until telling you about it here, as it all happened so fast ! Crazy scary, indeed ! Sorry to run on, but I'm just sitting here thinking...Wow ! Thank for your reply ! I'm wondering if others will show up ? I had one guy tell me his brand new iPhone caught fire while charging, so I guess it happens ? Thanks !

Does this work on CB band? If so, what's the output wattage?
@RidgeHikerAdventures
@RidgeHikerAdventures 2 ай бұрын
The radio runs 10, 11 (CB) and 12 meters and additionaly 15 meters with changing a jumper on the board. Out of the box, the radio is set for 10 and 12 meters only (Ham Band). To get the radio to work on 11 meters, you need to change from Ham Band to HF Band. You can do this through their programing software or by accessing this menu item by holding down the band and memory button at the same time as you turn on the radio. The radio is capable of 80 watts though I have read it is closer to 100 watts. Remember that CB is legally only allowed to operate at 4 watts AM and 12 watts SSB. This radio is not FCC certified for CB. I have talked all over the world on 10 meters and I'm very happy with this radio. Thanks for watching, 73s!

@ That was my question. When operating on CB band, is it limited to 4watt or is it pushing the full 80?
@RidgeHikerAdventures

It will output the full power on the CB band.
